DH & I are booked at AKV Kidani for 6 nights this September 5-11. We have a standard view studio, no savannah views are available. I'm considering changing to one of the following:

6 nights at CSR, non tower room
5 nights at WL
4 nights at GF
or 4 nights at CR

DH will be turning 50 & I'm 47. This is an anniversary/ birthday trip.

I’d stay at Animal kingdom 😁. Of course, that’s where I stayed for my 40th. I loved relaxing on the balcony and watching the animals roam about

It’s a toss up for me to pick one but I know which I’d remove- CSR.
I liked AKL better. Gran Destino is gorgeous but CSR didn’t wow us and lately it’s been getting some disappointed reports.

I guess it depends if you would rather spend more time at WDW or have a nicer resort experience. I would probably split the difference and do WL.

We have stayed at all of these.

With just the two of you, I don't see a particular need to be on the Monorail just to get to the Magic Kingdom. I'd skip the Grand Floridian and Contemporary, especially since it means sacrificing a couple of nights.

Coronado Springs Resort is nice. We like their Three Rivers restaurant & bar, as well as their main pool. But those rooms don't have a balcony. My wife and I truly enjoy having morning breakfast or evening drinks on the balcony. I'd consider CSR a step down from Kidani.

This leaves either Kidani or Wilderness Lodge.

Although we like the Savannah at Kidani, I'm not crazy about the rest of the resort (and we are DVC members there). The pool is too small for the size of the resort. The lobby is probably the least impressive of all the Deluxe Resorts, there is no food court, the store is tiny, and (even though people rave about the bread service), I've never particularly enjoyed Kidani's one table service restaurant (Sanaa). (I had a particularly underwhelming Christmas Day lunch there one year.)

I think you should consider the Wilderness Lodge. It's a smaller, more intimate resort with outstanding theming. The lobby is most impressive while the pool is a joy to swim in and relax by. They have a good food court and store, along with two table service restaurants (a third is closed at the moment). We particularly enjoy the outdoor Geyser Point restaurant for a simple meal (e.g. burgers) and drinks.

And, of course, you can ride the boat to the Magic Kingdom!

Hopefully, the following images from our last WL stay will get you excited for the WL.

I would not cancel anything until you double check. You may find no availability. There is great demand for vacationing right now.

If it were us, we'd change to anything from AKV Kidani. We stayed in Oct. and while we're glad we went once just to say we did, we won't be back. I know we don't know what Sept. will bring, but they still are not fully opened and there is no counter service options (other than breakfast with the weird set-up downstairs at Saana.) The pool has a few (very few) select items, but no counter service was a huge let down for us. The area to fill our mugs is in the tiny gift shop and it's just not big enough...there was constantly a line just to get in to get a drink. We were always on the first bus in the am, however they never got us to the park early enough to really take advantage of pre-park opening hours. - In contrast we also stayed at Poly in Sept. and just returned from CBR and were always able to get to the parks and walking in by about 45-50 mins. prior to park open. - It made a huge difference.

We also found that the pool was always packed...yes we could walk down to Jambo, but we'd rather have something close. All in all, we just really felt like the amenities in general and even the hallways were just too small for the amount of people staying at the resort.

I will also say, other than bell service (which was great :))...it's the only resort we've stayed at that we've experience rude CM's...and a few actually.
