Best wishes... I was induced with #1, and again with #4... wish there was something to tell you to do that would work... we tried it all and still had to be induced!

Praying that all will go good for you, the baby and your family!

:grouphug:

You have the right to refuse any medical procedure..

I refused to be induced when I was pregnant with my son. Had to do some extra NST's and things but it wasnt really a big deal. BTW, I had him on my due date which happened to be the first day my dr offered me for induction:lmao:

Has your due date passed?

I was induced with both my boys but I was 10 days - 2 weeks early. Being induced wasnt all that bad and the end result made it much more tolerable. :)

I hope everything goes well and soon you will have a new bundle of joy.:cloud9:

What can you do? One word for you...SEX! :rotfl: yup that helps move things along. Also walk as much as possible. However, my favorite solution is to make reservations at a hard to get into restaurant, he is sure to come at exactly the time you have the ressie for!

Good luck and congrats on your little prince :wizard:

 Yep, sex. Do you part for medical science!! :lmao:

I'm sure your little boy won't mind the ride either.

I sure hope you can avoid the induction. I had 2 c-sections myself but I do wish I could have had a nice normal ******l birth instead. Best of luck.

That's still over a week away. Maybe he'll emerge on his own before then. Good luck to you!!:goodvibes

Well I have been induced 3 times (all for different reasons, overdue by 2 weeks, thought baby was going to be too big, and 3rd high bp) not knowing any different - I think it is ok my 1st labor was about 14 hours from cervadil to birth, 2nd was 4 hrs from pitocin drip to birth, and third was about 6 hrs. clearly I was close to going on my own each time but neede a litle help I guess - then again I like to be in control of everything ang this is about as close to control as you can get (without doing a c section) so I found it to be FINE for us! GOOD LUCK- FWIW don't try the castor oil thing the last thing you want is to be in labor with bathroom poblems - I am sure the Dr would appreciate that too!

I was 16 days late with both. With DS I went in to labor the night before I was to be induced. With DD I got induce at 14 days didn't work went home got induced again 2 days later. I never went into labor the first so it was not a big deal, I mean it wasn't horrible got lots of lemon ices watched TV. I find hospital beds quite comfy. DD weighed 10# btw.

If you don't want to, just say "no".

DS was 42 weeks 3 days when they forced him out (I was an idiot) and he had signs of prematurity.

Hubby was a 44 week baby. No one forced him out, things were much saner in the OB and midwife world in 1972 than they are now.

In laws had rock solid dates as FIL was on leave from Merchant Marines, and they know to the hour (when the train went by and woke them up) when hubby got his start.

DH and I had rock solids dates as well.

If you don't want the induction, go researching for the actual information on going longer than the bell curve that was NEVER intended by the dude who came up with it to have birth attendants hurry things along.

The original site went away for some reason, but this is an archive of a site that was called "10 month mamas".

If you don't want it and there's no reason other than your attendants getting antsy, just say "no" and stay strong! Babies are very smart, they know when they are ready. Sure wish someone had reminded me of that while allowing myself to be bullied into stuff by my supposed homebirth midwives.

Good luck!

Inductions rock! 4 for 4! It really aint that big of deal. Do you want to do it with out drugs? I mean epidural and stuff? I did 2 of my inductions with out it.. 3 of them were under 2 hours from start to finish as well. Ah I love giving birth... such a wonderful experiance.. no I'm not being scarcastic.. I loved labor! Yep I'm a freak. Oh and all these things people are going to tell you to try.. been there did that.. Nothing worked for me!

!
Actually it was probably a sign of a aging placenta but you should know that right? :confused3 After 42wks you'll get the same signs of prematurity as you would if he was born before 37wks..

I had to be induced a few weeks early w/DS#2 due to me having gestational diabetes and his size, and I loved it.

I'm such a "planner", I stressed for months about what would happen w/DS#1 if I went into labor at a weird time (if it was just the two of us at home, or right as I was to pick DS#1 up from preschool). Being induced helped ease the stress of "WHEN" for me.

Walked in, they broke my water, hooked me up to pitocen (sp), couple hours later got the epidural, couple hours later got my baby boy. :thumbsup2

It's fine, really.

Induction didn't work for me. I was induced (cervidil and pitocin ) for 4 days. Finally on the 5th day (and a whopping 1 cm dilated) I had a c-section. Sex didn't work either. But, for most women it does work and in the end I had a beautiful baby.

That's what I was thinking too. It can be harmful to the baby to go too far past your due date so I'd go for the induction. I was induced with DD and LOVED it. No triage, nice bed waiting for me at the hospital etc. 12 hrs start to finish...piece of cake...good luck :)

I was induced with both of mine. It's not so bad -- just the unknown. The day before my first (2 weeks late), feeling sorry for myself, I ate a whole pint of Baskin Robbins PB and Chocolate....

Dr. did say that it's not good for either Mom or the Baby to go much longer than 2 weeks past the due date.

Both of my kids were "evicted" and it was no problem. We did great- enjoy your new baby!
