My best friend got her license in May.

I've only been able to ride around this town with her. I can't go to (town south of here- my hometown) or (town north of here- where the movie theater, bowling ally, mall, etc. is at). My parents say that they don't trust her yet.

Which I kinda see why..

I mean she's crazy and carefree and that can come out on how you drive.

Well now that football season is here she keeps asking me if I'll be able to ride with her to the home games in *south town.

And my parents keep telling me no. I respect their answer and don't argue back. But it's hard for her to understand why I can't without her thinking its because of her wreck a few months ago. Which it has nothing to with that.

Well my boyfriend is getting his license tomorrow.

He should have got it in April when he turned 16, but because of baseball, football, and school it didn't end up getting his permit until March.

Earlier my friend asked me if I was going to be able to ride to the next home football game which is the 25th.

And I told her, I'm already gonna be in *south town so I'm just gonna go over to my boyfriend's house and ride to the game with his mom.

After I said that, I refreshed my myspace page and saw she has JUST set her status as "wow, people these days are so freakin fake and full of nothing but excuses!"

uhh, so she got mad at me because I didn't want to come back to my house just to ride back to the town I'll already be in..

Then she texted me and asked how I was getting home.

'Garrett.'
'oh, so you'll be able to ride with him?'
'yeah'
'wow, thats pretty f'd up'

Me, not wanting to argue or anything just said "yeah".

End of conversation.

My parents already told me I'd be able to ride with him.

It was the same way with my sister, she could ride with her boyfriend places before she could with her friends.

Boys drive better. In my opinion and in my parents. Girls talk, sing, blahblahblah. Well she does anyway. Guy's I've learn actually are much better drivers than girls. IMO.

So.. Is it different with guys, or should I be able to ride with her if I'm allowed to ride with him? In your opinion.

ETA: Okay, all guys don't 'drive better' than girls.. The ones that have drove me around do drive better than the girls I've rode with. They drove more cautiously.

ETA:

Just play it off like its all your parents fault. Tell her that you're upset that you can't drive with her too.

Just tell her straight up "My parents don't want me to ride with you because they don't like the way you drive. No biggie - I don't make the rules I just follow them. Don't take it personally".

my dad drives waaay better than my mom.
she's not a bad driver, he's just a really good one haha.

i think your parents are right, not wanting you to ride with her.
& if i were her i would see why you wouldnt be allowed to.
she's being redic.

i think you just have to tell her the truth.
& like sonya said: you dont make the rules, you just follow them.

i think most teenagers drive bad. lol. boys are more daring(speeding, etc) and girls just suck at it in general. ;)

just tell her that your parents don't want you riding with her.

but i do kindof agree, its weird that they'll let you ride with a JUST licensed driver rather than an experienced one?:confused3

No kidding. My BFFs brother, he's 17, drove us home from the mall, I thought we were gonna die! No blinkers, one hand on the wheel, the other was in his mouth chewing his nails. No speeding, but lots of weaving in and out of cars. I was terrified.

seriously. i rode with a friend home from a party once, we hit 80 on a residential road. it was terrifying.

but then again, i rode with a girl home from school and we almost anhilated another car, because she wasn't paying attention/just a bad driver.

boys do it to impress, girls do it because they're bad drivers. lol

Just want to say : not all girls suck at driving. I actually consider myself a good driver. And my friend is also raelly good.
Just wanted to say that.

On topic: My parents don't let me ride with ANY teenager drivers.
Just tell her the truth, that your parents dont' feel comfortable with you driving with her. It's their rules, it's not really like you could do anything about it.

I definately consider myself and above-average driver in skill level. New England winters are really tough. I can handle a snow storm like a pro now. And I can merge across six lanes in a minute flat.

as for your situation, just explain to her that it's your parent's rule, not yours.

the girls i know are better drivers than the guys. i mean, alot of the girls aren't that great, but the guys are just terrible. they drive way too fast and one of them drifted halfway into the other lane without noticing once. i usually feel safer with girls.

as for your situation, if your parents think that your bf is a better driver than your friend, then it makes sense that they allow you to ride with him and not her.

My dad keeps bugging me to go 35 in a 15 zone, when I'm already going 25!

Just FWIW, my dad is a worse driver than my mom. He tailgates, speeds, doesn't use blinkers about 50% of the time, and has fallen asleep a few times.

Just tell your friend that your parents don't want you riding with her. She'll probably be mad, but there's not much you can do about that. She'll be mad either way.

And here's my driving story that happened yesterday:
I was driving back to school because I went home for the weekend (it's 2.5-3 hours away). As I was on the highway, this HUGE truck pulls up behind me and tailgates me. All I can see out of my back window is the grill of the truck (and I drive a honda cr-v, so it's not like my car is that low to the ground). He was sitting right on my bumper and swerving in and out of my lane and the lane next to me (which had another car in it). Well, I guess I slowed down or something, because he finally pulled around next to me and sped off. Right after he sped off, I saw him go slower so I could pass him. As I was passing him, he rolled down his window and climbed out the window (while still driving at 75-80mph) flicking me off and yelling at me. I have no idea what his problem was.

I think teenage boys are the most unsafe drivers out there. The guys I work with drive way over the limit, don't stop at stop signs in a parking lot and just wing around turns. They also speed up just so they can turn left, which is reallllly not safe.
But people from Quebec, in general are worse drivers :P.

I don't expect any of my friends to get in a car with me before I've been driving for like a year.

I was probably one of the worst teenage girl drivers out there! I did everything you shouldnt do. I'm still amazed that I passed my drivers test.

But with some driving years behind me, I'm ALOT better now. Not perfect. ;)

DBF is way better than me!
