So I finally started watching True Blood....

I tried to watch when it first came out because I usually enjoy the sunday night HBO shows, but I gave up after the first couple of shows. I don't like the one on after it either, so now I just DVR Entourage and go to bed early!

Just putting in my two bits.... Everyone at work either reads the books or watches the tv show, and the overall concensus is that True Blood is fab! Yes, the show on HBO doesn't quite follow the storyline in the books, but I still like it. Season 2 was my least favorite... the fanatical church goers got on my nerves. I haven't quite gotten caught up on season 3, but plan on it! As for the accents - while they might not be accurate, after watching a few back-to-back eps, I pick up the accents and drive my fam nuts! lol! Quite entertaining :} I am also a Sex and the City fan, so not sure what that says about my taste in tv shows, but I would say, if you haven't gotten hooked on True Blood by now, it's just not your cup of tea and there's nothing wrong with that.

Bingo.

So much of the series on HBO are acquired tastes. And if, after tasting them for a few episodes, you haven't aquired the taste and still think it's horrible, then it's really not for you.

I loved SATC, SFU and am currently in love with TB and BL (Big Love). I dutifully gave Hung, Entourage and other HBO series a shot and watched a few of their episodes, but they just didn't make the cut with me. I simply can't find a reason to care about a young movie star and his buddies or the relationship angles of a woman trying to figure out how to pimp out a PE teacher, so I don't watch those shows.

I'm really looking forward to Boardwalk Empire, though. That's supposed to start this month! Steve Buscemi intrigues me the way Joe Pesci intrigues me. Both are little guys fighting their way up from the bottom and you never know what they're going to do next. Can't wait to see what Martin Scorsese is going to do with this one!

Since we don't have cable, I get the series at the local Family Video and enjoy watching one episode after another so much more than waiting a week between. I just finished up season 2 of TB today and have to say that the characters have certainly grown on me since season 1:) There was more humor and character development--I like the flashbacks so we can see where Eric and Bill came from, and the entire Church of the Sun plotline was hysterical:lmao: Sam's character was the only one that didn't come across to me as good in season 2 but Hoyt and his momma were well-done! Bill is always more scruffy looking than necessary--I wish he looked and acted like he did in the 1920's flashback. Now it's on to Season two of Sons of Anarchy and I want to begin Breaking Bad and Hung. I also plan to finish up the Tudors over the winter. I really enjoy these types of series:thumbsup2

I didn't like season 1 at all (maybe it was the lack of Eric ;) ) But after getting season 2 from netflix DH and I got HBO right away so we could watch season 3 this summer.

It grows on you. I read the books after watching seasons 1 and 2 and they are really different from the show. I like the books better but still love the show.

Honestly Alexander Skarsgard (Eric) is one of the main reasons I love the show. I don't deny that :lovestruc

I hated the books (read the first 2) AND the series (watched 3 episodes). Of course I also dislided Twilight, Harry Potter, Jodi Piccolt and the Outlander series.
