So I e-mailed about the cost of the Mnsshps...

and was told in reply that the price was because of the "strong demand" for their "specially themed attractions and entertainment". And that they "continually add new experiences and enhance existing ones to ensure Guests are getting the full value of their tickets."

Just thought I would share.

It probably cost Disney about a few million to come up with that pat answer, so the increase in MNSSHP prices is entirely justified. ;)

How much did it go up? Weren't we all expecting the price to go up considering how much they've jack up pricing everywhere else?

Well, there was certainly strong demand for the special themed events, I'll give them that!

As to the second part, does that mean new experiences AT the parties? I hadn't heard of any (yet).
Or it could mean charging more for everything to pay for all the in-the-works projects (as opposed to just using their record Billions from recent quarters)

The night I wanted to go went up $20 compared to last year. Once the cost crept up over $90 it became more than I wanted to pay. Instead I will have a nice dinner at The California Grill, and still be able to see Hallowishes.

Wow...that is some pat reply, indeed. I only wish that our salary increases remotely reflected the percentage of increase applied to the parties, both MNSSHP and MVMCP through the years. We have been going to MVMCP about every second year for quite some time and each time I tell myself that it still a nice evening, despite the disappearance of little extras. Yes, the castle lights are fabulous, and the new attractions are cool, but they don't just come out for parties...

I can't comment on the quality of shows, as I honestly have never had time to see one. We enjoy the second parade, although that plan backfired for the one and only MNSSHP we attended. The parade was rained out. We also never do character meetings.

Translation: We raised them because we could. ;)

Thanks for sharing your reply.

I can respect voting with your wallet, right along with sending an email to let them know why.

They are continually adding new experiences. Nowhere did it say they were good experiences. They seem to be adding bad experiences just as quick as they can!

And the new experiences they keep adding all over the place seem to always include cupcakes... and cost extra on top of the ticket they're charging more for because of the "new experiences". :rotfl:

New "experiences"? Is this another way to say "enhancements"?

MK is the only park with more than a handful of (operating) attractions. So, they cut hours and introduce more hard ticket events? You bet they did AND found another way to gouge their guests.

Continually add new experiences? Since when?

Just in the last year, off the top of my head (some may be more than a year or coming soon because these are off the top of my head). Also trying to pick things that are free:

Storymaker touches to several attractions, including Haunted Mansion.
New Peter Pan queue to make it interesting.
New store for Haunted Mansion, which even if you don't buy from is more interesting to browse than a candle store.
New Star Wars fireworks being called the best ever played at WDW by some.
Longer Flower & Garden that some are calling better than Food & Wine (with a handful of free experiences).
Revamped FP+ to maximize Fastpass ability.
An entirely new section of Africa, with a new dedicated theater for Lion King.
Frozen shows at HS.
A slight re-work of the ending of the Great Movie Ride.
Right around the corner:
Soarin' (More capacity = more rides = more value)
New track for Toy Story Mania (adding more capacity = more rides)
Discovery Island Carnivale
Harambe Acrobats
Soccer Meerkats
Karibu Sisters
Muziki
Viva Gaia
Tree of Light night show
Rivers of Life (maybe not right around the corner, lol! Might be up and running when I visit again in 2018).

Only three or four of these attractions replaced something big. The rest are entirely new, or replaced something smaller or outdated. Again, I avoided things that cost more money on top of admission, but if we were to include those too you can add Skipper's Canteen, almost all of Disney Spring (something I never cared about before but now have a few stores I want to visit that aren't anywhere else), and more.

I think the OP's email was regarding the increasing cost of MNSSHP tickets. I would assume that's what their answer addressed.

They really have not added anything to the party in many years . The new show last year was a replacement. Some of the characters are different but the number of meets is the same or even less.

As a matter of fact over the years they have taken away. You used to get photos with the party ticket and a less crowded party.

Considering the article posted in the other thread. Disney intended doesn't mind seeing decreased attendance as long as their revenue goes up. So I don't think they care they are pricing out some people.

I've been going to these parties for a long time. I've done MVMCP every year, except one, since 2003. I've done mnsshp three times.
It will cost me $20 more to go to MVMCP than it did last year...basically same date. Last year, my friend and I decided, would be our last year. Why? Disney is selling more and more party tickets. We don't go on 'popular' nights...usually midweek, early Dec. We both own dvc and have ap's. Each year, discounts for these two groups have gotten fewer and fewer.
When I first started going to MVMCP, we got special commemorative pins, a free 5x7 photo. The park was much less crowded. There were more cocoa stations, with better cookies.

Now? It doesn't matter if you head to the second parade of the night...it's still nasty crowded. Lines for 'special' characters are ridiculously long. You have to choose between characters or attractions now. There is no way I'm standing in a line for 2 hrs to see Snow White and her dwarves, or Jack snd Sally. Others like that..not me.

So this year? If my dd is working during a party, I might go. Otherwise, it's just not worth close to $100 to me!!

I'm voting with my wallet by going September 8th. They got me, my money, my vacation time, and my wife.
I'm also going September 8th! My very first MNSSHP!

The price wasn't really as bad as I thought.. I paid less for my MNSSHP ticket than I did for my MVMCP ticket in November last year. It made it a little easier lol. I thought for sure I was going to pay a lot more than $76.
