thinking of maybe going 28th august til 11th september, can someone give me a clue as to how hot it is this time of the year, what the crowds are like, how often it rains or anything else you think i may need to know about going at this time of the year??!! (i normally go in november so this'll be a definate change of pace!!)

very hot and humid, very busy, because of the free disney dining, but saying that the american kids go back to school around the middle of august.
its far too hot for me!! even though we have in the past been around 3 times that time of year!

We are going between 10/9/09-1/10/09 so I would really like to know if the parks get really busy. I thought I had read somewhere that the free dining plan did not make that much difference to the theme parks, but maybe I read it wrong [can't recall where I read it].

The weather is generally very hot, though not unmanageable, there may be the odd day where it's cloudy and there is often an afternoon downpour where the heavens open, they disappear as soon as they arrive and it's like the downpour never happened!

Crowds at this time are less severe, though last year with the free dining we noticed that a lot of the Disney restaurants were booked up, even though we didn't necessarily feel that the parks were that busy. If you're an early riser and can get to the parks pretty soon after opening, you'll have a lot of the major rides under your belt by the time the main crowds arrive. :thumbsup2

we flew them dates last year for our wedding and the corwds were great, it was hot but we got married on 2nd sept and we found it hot but not over bearing

Might see you there!! we fly on the 27th this year and fly back on the 12th

We are going those same dates Karen:goodvibes

We do usually go in September but have decide to go 28 Aug so DS wont miss much school, it is usually ver hot but we have always manged it just drink plenty:thumbsup2 sometimes in the afternoon there is a very heavy downpour

We have to go in August because of my job and it is very hot but manageable, Im not that good in the heat but I just make sure I drink loads of water and go into shops with air con as often as possible. :goodvibes

Very hard to predict, this can also be major hurricane time & although they don't always hit Disney they can be close enough to disrupt the weather. We arrived Sept 9th last year just as a Hurricane (forget the name!) had headed up towards New Orleans & for our first week it was scorching -114 in the shade at Aquatica! But for the nest 2 weeks it did calm down to high 20s low 30s,still sticky but not unbearable. crowd wise, apart from the restaurants,we didn't think that the crowds were too bad,the only problem day was HS (MGM) but I just think that we ended up choosing the day that everyone else chose! & even though we were onsite we never had to use EMH unless we really wanted to.
SD:thumbsup2

We went in July 2008, very busy parks, seemed to be full of south American school trips. weather hot, but enjoyed every minute of it, be prepared for torrential afternoon down pours. We may have noticed the crowds more, as we usually go in Nov and its much drier and quieter.

The only weekend you will find busy is the 5th, 6th and 7th of September...this is a national holiday "Labour Day weekend" when everyone and their grannie will be at Disney guaranteed. Best to avoid any parks this weekend unless you are a glutton for punishment. Also if you havnt booked accomodation for this weekend do so now as there will be nothing left pretty soon. If you are going to the parks be sure to go for opening as on Days like this Disney can run at full capacity and by early morning could turn people away. Have a great vacation.

we did mnsshp on the 5th last year then universal and islands of adventure on the 6th and didnt find them busy at all, i guess it all depends on the year

Labour day isnt always the same date...its always the first Monday in September so it changes every year:flower3:
