So, HOW do you exactly tip

Yes. I want to know HOW you tip. Not how much. I just want to know how. I know you can just add the amount on your visa-payment, but if you pay cash, how do you do it? Leave it on the table? Hand it over?
How do you tip in a hotel, to housekeeping?

I don't need to know amounts, just how you do it.

At restaurants, I usually try to leave a cash tip, even if I'm paying the bill with a credit card. I leave it on the table, usually inside the little billfold thingie they give you with the receipt inside.

For anything else that requires a tip, I hand it to the person I'm tipping. Housekeeping would be the only exception to this; in that case, I leave it on the bureau or side table in the room.

We usually do plastic for everything (easier for me to track) so if I do plastic at a restaurant, I tip in plastic. If I pay in cash, I tip that way too. I will usually leave cash tip in the little folder that they give with the bill.

For hotels, I leave the tip on the nightstand. For my hairdresser, they have a place where you can put envelopes with the person's name on it. So that way I don't have to do it by hand. Everything else I do, though would be given in person by hand.

At restaurants....
I pay cash 99.9% of the time. If the bill plus the amount I would leave as a tip come to somewhat of a round number (like $60), I leave that amount and tell the server "No change needed".

If I need change for the amount I gave the server, then I leave the tip on the table when we leave.

At hotels.....
I leave the tip in an envelope on the nightstand.

At the barber....
I hand it straight to the barber.

I leave the cash in the booklet as well, even if I use my debit card for the bill...I give $ directly to the people for salon services, unless they have a jar or bowl like after a massage...
