So how do I wrap a ski trip?

We are paying for our 15 & 17 year old to go skiing with their scout troop. They were originally told they could not go because they are going to a "high-adventure" camp this summer. DH & I decided to make the ski trip part of their Christmas. I am looking for a really creative way to let them know they will be going on the ski trip. I did buy a skiing pig and a skiing hippo ornament which I plan to incorporate into the surprise. Any ideas?

They make this stuff called instant snow. You could probably do something fun with that. Maybe fill a container with it and at the bottom put a little card telling them about the trip?
Or a snowman kit (a hat, carrot, button eyes, ect.) and when they look at you like what the???? You can say "Well I thought you might like to make a snowman on your trip!"

Do they have their snow sports merit badge already? If not, you could buy a copy of the book (or two) at council. Wrap those up and see if they scratch their heads on how they'll be completing the requirements.
