Ours was AWESOME. Here in TN we are lucky to get an inch but I would say we got at least 4 last night. No school for us ;) The kids got out sleds at 8 this morning and were out most of the day. DH and I played with them until 11 or so. DH had to leave to drive back to work so he has been gone since lunch :( but our oldest hung with his neighborhood friends and the two little ones stayed home in our yard. It is 7:55 and I am enforcing an 8 pm bedtime tonight - I would bet money that at 8:15 all three will be sawing logs.

As we still have snow on the ground and backroads were not grated we are out of school again tomorrow. DS11 and I may work on the Lego HP castle, my youngest ones have friends coming over.

The downside is that normally my house would be pristine on a Monday evening but right now it looks like a bomb went off. Wet clothes in the foyer, clean clothes folded and on the couch, snow gear....everywhere! LOL And -with THREE meals cooked today vs cold cereal in the morning, lunchboxes at school, and then one cooked meal at dinner - I am sick of cleaning the kitchen and doing dishes so I am procastinating supper cleanup. So glad to have tomorrow off, too! I will try to recover from today

Ours is on its way and likely to dump over a foot of snow on us. We got 20" recently so not as excited as you! BUT so happy you got snow when you usually dont.:) My kids would be in their glory.

We got 8 inches. I almost at ran over sledding down the hill because the new neighbor which is from up north thought he could get down the hill. Crazy. He wondering why school is close. LOL The kids is a sleep. Knowing full well there's no school tomorrow.

I live near main road it has not been plow yet.

No school or work for nobody tomorrow. It turning int ice now. That is not good.

We got like 5 inches just north of Atlanta.

This was my snow day with DH and 3 year old DD:
home made waffles
playing in the snow
Tinkerbell movie & soup at lunch
Mario cart
rest
dinner
Chutes & Ladders
Beauty and the Beast with milk & cookies

looking forward to another snow day tomorrow!

We got about 5 or so inches here. Had a blast playing with DD this morning. She did not want to come in for lunch.

"No Momma, Play SNOW!"

She is currently wiped out... fell asleep an hour before bedtime. :)

They are calling for another inch tonight... so I'm sure tomorrow will be the same.:woohoo:

Glad to hear so many of you are enjoying the snow. I live is the lake effect snow belt area of NY and we get 4" on any regular day. Our temperature is down to 5 degrees tonight. Ughhh. But enjoy I am waiting patiently for spring.

Sounds like my youngest. He was out for 3 hours straight this morning, sledding up a storm. I joked that he was probably peeing in his pants to avoid going in (and prayed that I was wrong LOL and apparently I was!) I got him to stay in for a short bit but then he went back out to make snowballs and throw snow around. He talked DD into sledding with him again around 3 and then he and I broke out sleds again at 5 until I told him I was done, DONE and had to make supper.

Ours is turning into ice, too. DH heard we might get another dusting early tomorrow but nothing like we got last night. We get something this nice about once every 8 to 10 years (the last time my 11 year old was a preschooler!) so I have been letting my kids play in it as much as they want.

ETA: jking6 - I wish we got snow all winter ;) I have lived in states that had snow all winter and LOVED it. I told DH today that if I could be on a beach all summer and in the mountains with snow all winter I would be happy. I think senior citizens have it bass-akwards ... they are missing the best parts of the seasons LOL

We had such a good day today as well! We got 4" here! We built a snowman because this is the best packing snow we have seen in years. It is perfect. It is such a small world that there are so many of us so close to each other on the boards. Piglet'sMommy, I am actually in Woodbury, but I teach in the boro. I am so happy for another snow day!

We got about 8' here in Omaha. They just called off school again for tomorrow. I'm a teacher and don't have kids of my own so I just relaxed and did some cooking for the week. I'm lucky to have a great brother who plows out my driveway for me whenever it snows so I don't even have to go out and shovel. Trouble is the winds are picking up and blowing it back on the driveway

I'm jealous!! We ended up with only ice, but a least we didn't lose power. The kids had a "bad weather" day today but they go back tomorrow with a delayed opening. My mom & sister live about an hour &1/2 north of us and they got several inches of snow. Not fair I tell you, not fair!!:rotfl2:

We had about 3 inches at our house on the southwest side of Nashville. Kids were out in it for about 4 hours this morning, the rest of the day consisted of playing on the Wii and watching kids movies on Netflix.

Our streets are pretty clear here tonight and although the public schools are closed tomorrow, we are private and are often open when it snows so I guess we'll see. I just wish our principal would go ahead and make the call tonight so I don't have to make lunches, lay out uniforms, etc. "just in case."

In any event, one of my 3 girls started running a fever tonight so she is home regardless.

:banana::cool1::cool1:We got like 10 inches of snow I am loving it :cloud9:took the kids and the dog out to have snow ball fights and tried to sled with clothes basket:scared1::woohoo: Hopefully it will stay for a few days:yay::yay:

Amyren, do you know any Mason's in Kennesaw? I know a Bo and Nicole. :)

We had about 6.5" at my house here in East TN near the Smokies. It is beautiful but most things are shut down. DH just spent 3 hours and 15 coming home from work and usually it takes 45 mins. They were stopped though--an accident. I think a lady may have gotten out of her car and was hit.:sad2:

It is all turning to ice now. In the morning it'll probably be a mess.

Ours isn't coming until early morning, but we're only supposed to get about 3 inches. :(

Our snow is coming tomorrow....between 6 & 12 inches...on top of the surprise 6 we got on Saturday, which came on top of 4 on Friday. And this winter was supposed to be mild with very little snow... :rotfl:

I do not miss the lake effect stuff. I grew up in northern Michigan. Unfortunately here, they do not have the equipment to deal with this kind of snow at all! In the remote areas, they are lucky to have a few pick up trucks with a plow on the front & a salt spreader on the back. Its nothing like "back home" :rotfl:

I'm the opposite. I moved south so that I wouldn't have to deal with the cold MI winters. 6 weeks of cold & a bad snow storm once a decade vs 6 months of cold & a bad snow storm a week... Its a lot more fun when you have a chance to miss the white stuff! I do have to say that today was fun. It was really nice to show DD what it was like to play outside when I was a kid.

Hi neighbor! I'm closer to Smyrna actually, just barely over the Boro line. There is nothing like bad weather to bring everyone to their computer for some entertainment, I guess. Last May when the floods hit, I actually "met" someone on the DIS who lived in my apartment bldg. Not just the city I lived in, or the complex I lived in...but the same building!

I took DD out about 8:30 this morning & actually made a comment to DH about how dry the snow was. I could not get a snowball to hold together. Within an hour it had warmed up enough for the snow to get wet enough to pack.

it didn't :/ no snow here... ):

if only the 37 degree with 29 windchill would have snow....

I swear some of the southern states have more snow than we have here. We finally got some today that actually accumulated. If only we got off of school when there was a couple inches.

We got 7-10 inches here, sent home from work, life is good. Hopefully the boss checks tomorrow so he can cancel work before we go in.

Piglet's Mommy---

That is so cool that you met someone in your building! My husband works at Nissan in Smyrna. I teach in Murfreesboro City. I bet tomorrow is my last day off, but the county will be off on Wednesday, too, I bet. Gotta love it when it snows and shuts Tennessee down for a few days!!!
