So how busy is it on Thanksgiving week?

We're thinking of going either the week of or the week after. We don't mind medium crowds, but can't deal with the super busy times of the year. What do you guys think?

:dance3:

We are going the week of Thanksgiving. From what I have heard, the week of is average, but beginning the weekend after Thanksgiving the crowds get heavy.

We have been the week of and it is pretty busy and gets busier the closer it gets to T-giving day; If I had the choice, I would go the week after. I hear it is dead that week.

We are going the week of Thanksgiving...Sat to Sat... I plan on hitting MK & Epcot early in the week, and leaving AK & MGM for the end.

According to Disney CRO, it starts to get busy the Saturday BEFORE Thanksgiving, and gets more crowded up to Thanksgiving Day. The worst days- meaning for me the most crowded- are Wednesday, Thanksgiving, Friday and Saturday. Then, the Sunday after Thanksgiving it dies down quite a bit until the weekend before Christmas. I think "abamick" has their information incorrect.

One year when we flew in on Thanksgiving day, we were told the Magic Kingdom was closed due to the crowd size around noon. We went the next day to Animal Kingdom and it was nuts. By Sunday, the MK was OK, some crowds, but not bad.

This is our fourth TG trip to WDW.. We fly in the weekend before TG and leave the Sat. after.
From what we have noticed, it is not bad at all BEFORE TG.. But, on TG day and the weekend after it gets more and more crowded.... I would try to get in your parks before the holiday (if you go that week) and take it easy for the holiday and weekend after.
We are going to the MK (as our second day) on TG day, but we are going early am for EMH, and we are planning for the heavy crowds.. then we will head back to the YC after lunch to swim, when the MK really gets packed.

Every other year, we fly in on Thanksgiving day and stay for about a week and a half. We don't even venture to the parks until Sunday when people are starting to leave. One year we attempted Epcot on the Friday after Thanksgiving and it was so crowded we left. I've never seen Epcot that crowded - I couldn't imagine Christmas week. By Sunday though, things start to slow down.

The next week is much less crowded however we have noticed increasing crowds at this time of year as well. I think the word is out about the beginning of December.

Well, our thoughts are to get there the Sat before TG and to leave on TG day by the autotrain (so we won't actually be driving-other than getting to Sanford to pick up the train). We figure we'll celebrate TG on Wednesday-our kids are 6, 4 and almost 2 so I don't think they'll mind. My family is driving me nuts about TG this year and I'm so fed up that I figured we'd be better off spending quality time together at WDW instead. Last fall we went at the end of September and that was pretty good crowd wise, the spring before that we went at the end of April into the first week of May and it was way to crowded and hot most of the time. DH and me lived in Orlando before the kids for a year and I know what to expect weather wise, plus I love the holiday decorations that are up in Nov/Dec.
