I had made reservations at Hollywood and Vine only because of the Fantasmic package. Now, almost 2 weeks later, I read that you have to REQUEST to get that package, that it's not automatically included. I just read on another board that those packages for my date are all sold out. My husband and I were excited that we wouldn't have to wait in a 90 minute line with our 4yo to see the show.

Do you think it would help to call the WDW number and ask about cancellations?

It wouldn't hurt to ask, but I don't know that there will be cancellations. Being that the amount of "packages" they offer at the three restaurants and the limited number of shows, people grab them up and hold on to them.

So, is that right, though? Do you have to request it to get it? I was on the Disney dining reservations page and it says:

Book online or make reservations by calling (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463 up to 90 days in advance. Guests under age 18 must have parent or guardian permission to call.

Pick up your VIP voucher for the show upon payment of your meal at your chosen restaurant. Please plan on arriving at Hollywood Hills Amphitheater 60-90 minutes prior to the show.

I booked it online, but I didn't see anything referring to the Fantasmic preferred seating. According to this, it says make the res, then pick up the voucher before the show after paying - my res is for 6pm (show is at 7pm?) Maybe I'll call tomorrow to see if it'll be all set, or if I screwed it up ... This is my first time doing ADRs and I thought I was doing so well! :)

I've nhever booked the Fantasmic Package online but, yes, you've always had to request it.

I made a rez for the lunch just in case. At least that way, if we don't get good seats at Fantasmic, she'll get to see June and Leo from Little Einsteins :)

I'll call tomorrow to verify. I'll post back here with the answer, just in case anyone else made the same mistake I did!

You have to request the package to get it. The number of packages sold is limited, and it is not a regular restaurant reservation. You also have to provide a credit card number to hold the reservation - if you don't show up and don't cancel you will be charged a no-show fee. If you did not have to provide a credit card number, you probably do not have a Fantasmic package reservation. If your reservation time is after 5 PM, 5:30 at the lastest, it's possible that you do not have a package reservation. All the package reservations are very early. If the show is at 7, your reservation is likely to be before 5 if it is a package.

Oh well ... we've seen it before and had so-so seats (and it rained!) so if we have to go without seeing it this year, I'm sure my daughter will have seen enough to not even notice or care if we miss it. I won't mind, but now I need to break the news to my husband :)

I was able to get a Mama Melrose Fantasmic package for a 4:30 ADR on the day we would be at HS. I called back to see if I could get one a bit later, like 6:00 since we like to eat later and the CM told me that the Fantasmic packages are only available before 5:00pm. She said they offer the Fantasmic package at the earlier times as a way to get people to take reservations at more unpopular/earlier times and that I had one of the later ADR's for the fantasmic package and I shouldn't mess it up... I don't know how true it is, but I guess it makes sense.

They offer them so early because even with the package, you are going to be told that you should still be at the show an hour before it starts.

I just called and she edited my reservation to include the package (and moved the time up to accomodate for that). Gotta love Disney! I'm not sure if she had a cancellation or what, but I'm thrilled that I don't have to worry about it now.
