I've never posted in this forum- our last Disney trip was to WDW in May 2007 and I frequented the other forums back then.

But...... We've decided that we can't simply wait until 2010 for our next planned trip to WDW and on the spur of the moment booked DLP for the October school break!!! So, we'll be there from 21-25 October, flying Ryan Air from Prestwick to Beauvais. I still need to book a private car transfer from Beauvais, but then will be staying at the Hotel Cheyenne and I've got tickets to the Mickey's Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party for my DH and DS on 24/10! (my DD is only 3 and is a very sensitive soul prone to being easily frightened, otherwise she & I would be at the party too)

I'm so excited that I'm ready to burst. I've been to DLP with DH/DS once and DH/DS have been twice, both times at the Hotel Cheyenne. The only thing is, this time we've decided to keep it a complete secret from the kids and not tell them until we get there (or my son works out that the plane he's on is going to Paris...). I don't know how I'm going to manage to keep it secret!!! :rotfl:

Congrats.
Good luck keeping it secret. It can be really tough sometimes. But then you can always get a DLRP fix on here.

Ohh wow how exciting!!!...congrats!:goodvibes

Ohh how to keep it a secret.....tricky.hehe

Yay!! How exciting!! At least you have the DIS to vent you excitement to if you get too excited!!

i booked last week for a trip in jan. Said we would try to keep a secret until at least october, but am bursting to tell them as they talk about going again all the time. So have decided to tell them on sunday - thought we would watch the video from when we were there last feb and then after then after a few minutes of them begging to go back again - tell them!!(cruel parents heh??):yay:

OMG! How sweet! If someone did that to me I'd cry!!

Oh really try and keep it a secret if you can - Its worth it.

We didnt tell DD we were going last Christmas until Christmas day - we were setting off on boxing day.

We've always told her about other trips but havent told her we're going again in February and only going to tell her at the last minute and may only tell her where we're staying when we get there.

Its hard but worth it

I just think the build up is so exciting as well (well dh does tire a little after a couple of months)!!I asked DS(8) and DD(nearly 4) the other day after another trip request whether they would rather have our 3 week summer camping trip in france or 3 nts in disney and guess what they chose!!

Do both - we did

We are - I'm self nominated chief holiday planner for the family (DH is sweating)!!!:rotfl2:

I'm figuring that seeing as I kept the sex of both my babies a secret for nearly 5 months (even from DH who was adament he didn't want to know), the next few weeks ought to be easy to keep quiet about! :rotfl2: I'm just so excited!!

Hi Bonnie151 and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

Great news on the trip. We priced out Prestwick to Beauvais but all the extras took away the shine of the cheaper flights.
Have a look at the very useful info sticky and travelling by plane for a list of private shuttle companies :)

i would love to do that to ashleigh when she is older but im no good at keeping secrets i get too excited lol. i am not allowed to talk about disneyland at home anymore *** they said i am ruining it for them lol

Hi. We booked at the end of july/start of august but as you can see from our ticker, we don't go til feb 09!!!! We have decided to give the trip to our DD(7) and DS(3) as their christmas present from us :santa:

The first couple of weeks were terrible trying to keep it quiet - we haven't even told our parents and friends (outwith DIS) - but am now really quite excited about the big secret DH and I share  and know that it will be worth it to see the childrens faces on christmas day :yay: :yay: :yay:

Exciting stuff!! A good way to keep the secret is to just come and talk to us on the DLRP board about it! Then it's all nicely out of your system!

We go in January and we are doing exactly the same as you! We've decided to give the children special personal invitations from Mickey (done on the computer) after Christmas dinner. It is terrible trying to keep it a secret and I am desperate to tell them. I will resist as my middle daughter will ask: 'Are we going today?' Each and every day until we go! I'm so excited, I can't wait. Roll on Christmas. :santa:

The first time we went we kept it a secret from our DD(then 5). The night before we went we told her we'd go for a picnic the next day at a lake not 5 minutes drive from us..

Got her up about 4am, and 2 hours later we were on the first eurotunnel train of the day... All the way she kept saying she couldn't see the lake yet but miraculously didn't get bored or tire of looking! As we started passing Mickey bill boards on the A4 the grins in the front of the car were getting wider and wider but the penny never dropped even when we arrived at the Santa Fe!

We had a wonderful trip, but wouldn't it be wonderful to have that childhood imagination back again! :lmao:
