The first time I was at WDW I looked at the GF and made a wish to stay there in the future. And now this wish is going to come true....
I cannot wait to go.
We booked a room with lagoon view and now I have a question for you.
We made a request for castle view (ofcourse, who doesn't? :)) But do you think it's maybe better to request a building? And what building is the best?
Thanks for your help again.

We stayed in Boca Chica and had a nice view of the Magic Kingdom. There were alot of pine trees obscuring some of the views, and this was back in 1999 so I'm sure alot of those trees are bigger. But it really was a great location.

You are in for a fabulous treat. Congrats and here's to happy anticipation  Have a great trip :cheer2:

Thank you Ladyhawke.
I have asked my DHB about ten times now "shall I cancel it, it is soo much money" but luckily he also wants to experience the GF :)
We have our tenth anniversary in february, so we are considering this as an early celebration!

Congratulations!! :cool1: You will absolutely fall in love with the GF :cloud9:
The rooms are beautiful and spacious, the grounds are gorgeous, the activity on the water is exciting (Seven Seas Lagoon); you'll be able to see Cinderella Castle while walking around the resort; the lobby is gorgeous! You can watch Wishes from the food court!! :cheer2: Or, hopefully, from your balcony :wizard:
The resort is awesome :wave2:

You'll love it...it's definitely worth it. :flower:

We stayed in the Boca Chica building as well, and I don't think I'd ever stay in any other building ever again. It was close the main building, right in front of the quiet pool, and the view was wonderful. Even with the trees, we could still see the castle (they happened to be doing a training run-through of Wishes the night we were there, so we could see the changing lights & hear the music...everything but the fireworks. It was great sitting on the balcony, seeing it all).

Have a wonderful time!

I'm partial to SagoCay myself. It's sort of away from the general foot traffic, so it makes for a nice quiet, romantic location. It is adjacent to the main building for the monorail and there's a little path that takes you right out to the bus stop. The resort itself is not that spread out, so you might be a 4 or 5 minute walk between the two furthest points.

Just an FYI that the GF has something called a dormer room. These are located on the top most floors. They're a little smaller than a standard room, but have cathederal ceilings. The balcony is private, but much smaller than the other rooms. If you're not a big balcony person, you might like the added romance factor of this style room. If you enjoy spending time on your balcony though, I'd skip this style.

Not much can be done prior to arriving, other than having your requests noted on your reservation. Once you do get to the registration desk though, they CM there can sometimes assist you with a choice of rooms. It all depends on the resort occupany. If you arrive early, they may have a non-MK view available immediately or if you're willing to wait, they might be able to score you a great corner room with 2 balconies and a perfect fireworks view.

The GF scores high in the romance department. I'm sure you'll love it.

Sago Cay is my favorite building also. We have a request for a Sago Cay castle view lagoon view room for July 1-12 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I like the quiet and peacefulness of Sago Cay. Even when we had the garden view rooms we had a nice view of the lagoon. With three small kids I liked the convenience to Gasparillas also. You can't go wrong with the GF!

We've had beautiful castle views from Boca Chica. It's the only building we've ever stayed in other than the main building. Have a great trip!

Thank you all,
you are making me even more excited to get on that plane and to go there :)
I really don't like the idea that our flight arrives at MCO in the evening, so we would miss half a day at the GF. Now we are trying to travel a day earlier and stay one night at PC and arrive at the GF about noon. That sounds better to me :teeth: And will add an extra night at WDW ofcourse.

We're only a 3 hour flight away, but I love getting into Orlando the night before our vacation is set to begin. The travel is over, we get a goods night sleep and we're pulling up to Disney by 9am. The Airport Hyatt is a bit pricey, but extremely convenient if you have a late flight. There are hundreds of hotels situated very close by the airport and you could get something on Priceline or Hotwire for very little money. We've stayed at the Hawthorne Airport Suites before for $89 and they had a complimentary airport shuttle, plus a nice hot complimentary buffet breakfast. As you mentioned, even one of the value resorts is a great option for that additional night.

If it's really important to get a castle view, don't request a specific building. You're more likely to get the view you want if you don't restrict your options.

Congratulations! Dh and I are planning an anniversary trip and GF lagoon view is my dream location. Have fun! :)

Hi,
Yesterday I managed to book a Delta flight a day earlier, so that's great :)
Now we're staying a night at PC (my DHBs favourite resort) before going to the GF. So that's a lot better than to arrive exhausted at my dream resort.
We have to travel a very long way you know. And with the time difference and all that's a lot of hours without sleep. I just cannot sleep on board of an airplane, so I will be very pleased to see my PC bed :teeth:
