So excited! Gonna be new DVC members!!

OMG OMG! I can't believe we did it. I mean we ACTUALLY DID IT!! Our offer was accepted this morning (actually we accepted the seller's counter offer to our initial offer lol!)...if we survive ROFR then we will be brand spankin' new members of the DVC family!

We have been dreaming of this for years. YEARS. After two trips on DVC points courtesy of a super generous uncle, we realized it was for us. DH started crunching numbers unbeknownst to me for a few weeks and finally dropped the "yes we can!" bomb a few days ago. We started pouring over the resale sites until we found what we wanted. A small "starter" contract at our favorite place in the World ...BLT!

I could cry I'm so happy. Even if this contract gets snapped up by Disney, we'll move on to another. We've made the commitment. It's time we did something nice for ourselves.

Is it silly that I want a DVC member t-shirt or polo like right NOW? HAHA! I've always sighed longingly as we pass by them in the gift shops...

And OMG I'm such a dork...just checked our contract's listing on the broker's page (I've had it sitting in an open tab on my browser since we found it on Thursday LOL. Just staring at it) and I refreshed the page and it says "SALE PENDING"!! Made me swoon a little.

That is awesome! We own at VWL and just got back today from a week at BLT. We have a week in September booked and actually called and switched it to BLT while we were there, because we loved it so much.

And no, you aren't silly! I got a DVC rain jacket while we were down, and we have a sticker on the van. It's part of the deal!

We bought in 2009 and despite hard times w/ the economy, our contract is the one thing we'll hold on to w/ our dying breath. It means too much to us. The memories and enjoyment we get are just beyond measure.

Congrats! The DVC boards have been known to be cynical from time to time, because seasoned owners have their gripes, and this is a good place to air them.

One of the things I'm kind of looking forward to is making friends with other members/Disney Nerds like myself. Maybe even meet ups and stuff. Do people do that?

I stumbled upon the thread for owners of 1000 points or more and started having heart palpitations! That's some impressiveness right there.

I totally agree!! I told DH and he almost fell off the couch!!! He can't believe I want 200 points let alone even attempting 1000

Welcome home. BLT is one of my favourite resorts! You should have a search for some of DVC Mike's photos of the resort - stunning.

We love meeting other owners and hearing their experiences, particularly as we're from the UK. Sometimes that's a 2 minute chat in the lift and sometimes it's a few hours by the pool or up at TOTWL. DVC enables you to sit back, relax and smell the roses and (if you want to) meet new people whilst on vacation.

Welcome Neighbor! I'm giddy for you! We've been owners 4 and 1/2 years and I still feel like that. We are up to 470 points and I still look at the resale listings wistfully wanting more.
