I just had to share with my budget board friends! I had a great shopping trip at the grocery store today for things I actually use on a daily/weekly basis! I am excited:cool1:

4 Organic Teas
8 Snapple Teas
Frozen Chicken Tenders
Organic Onion Rings
2 Apple Eve Juice
Apple Juice
1.5 pounds Organic Chicken
2 Natural Apple Sauce
4 Blueberries
Cantaloupe
Bananas
2 Organic Cans of Tomatoes
Organic Bread

Before Coupons $68.07

After coupons and sales $12.32
I saved $55.75 I am so excited:goodvibes:) LOL

Bravo!!

I have been holdin on to my Thai Kitchen coupons and finally, a week before they expire!, a sale came round.

For 60 items-noodle bowls, coconut milk, curry pastes, sauces, fish sauce...regular price was approx $165--sale price was $112 and after coupons, I paid $54.54! I was happy and we'll be 'thai-ing one on' for quite a while. :)

I'm impressed, especially with the organic items on your list. I rarely, if ever see any coupons up here for organic items. I find most of the coupons are for things I wouldn't normally purchase.

WOW----Great job !!!!! :banana::woohoo: I agree--I rarely see coupons for organic items......

Great job!

I plan out my coupons every week and go by the sales and it always comes out the same. I wish i could do what u did!

Just once I would LOVE to spend that much at the grocery store! I work at one so everyday I end up buying stuff I don't need. By the end of the week I have spend 100.00 on stuff that I know will sit in the cupboard. Because if I have the night shift, dh is not cooking for the kids they are eating out.

Last week dh and I sat down and discovered our number one area of gluttony is FOOD. Eating out and buying stuff at the grocery we don't need is eating our budget down to nothing EVERY week.

So, we made a pact that this Sat we are planning meals for the whole week, going through the cupboards and buying only what we need for the meals and I will attempt to cook for two days every meal so that when I work the 3 to 11 shift he only has to heat up or the kids can do a helpy selfy and eat when they desire.

Kudo's to you! I am in total awe!

We were having issues of buying stuff and then it would sit and sit and sit and sit... But I did the New Year's Pantry Challenge on this board and now our pantry looks wonderful. It kind of looks empty now, but it is because we are doing so many more fresh foods. We only have staples such as sugar, flour, Bisquick, oatmeal and cereals in the pantry. Our freezer is getting really full right now with all of the CSA stuff I am making and freezing as we are just not able to eat that much food every week.

I love when I get those big discounts on my groceries, I think this week will be a good week because I am planning for the 4th and most of that stuff is on sale this week :banana:

I agree on job well done by OP!

Kelly - Might also be a good idea in case you don't have time to do two meals at a time to print up some really SIMPLE recipes for your dh to handle when he has the kids and you're working. SOunds like you're both working parents so no need to stick one parent with all the responsiblity of cooking the meals in order to save money. Some simple ideas for him to start on: pancakes, eggs, hot dogs, pasta and sauce, grilled cheese and soup - PLENTY that he should be able to handle and would be quick enough to do after work.

Sometimes I think we get so stuck into our 'usual' roles in a marriage/household that it is difficult to see the obvious right in front of us - just by breaking out of the usual mold we have been in might help out the budget/family life a ton! Just an idea!
