So excited for DD, first after school play date...

We live in the country, way out in the country.As in I drive DD 35 minutes to school on the highway country. So now that she is in 2nd grade she has her first playdate afterschool! I am nervous but excited for her and I hope she remembers her manners. Not being in the same town circle has really limited her on this, these other kids have know each other since 3 school. But the mom seems really, really nice so I hope it goes well.

So if this works well and the girls want to keep playing how do you work it? Do you ever let them come on a saturday and if so who drives it? Do I make both trips if I offer for them to play at our house? Do you split it in half since we are talking a drive here, have her mom drop her off and I bring her home later? What do others do? Thanks!

How exciting I am sure she will have a blast! What I do is try to take turns with each others house if my kids go over someone elses house then we try to have them next time. Normally the way we do it is whoever house the playdate is at the other mother drops them off and picks them up. We take turns so it makes it easier I would talk to the parents and see what they would prefer.

Although I was in middle school rather than elementary, two of my best friends lived 30-45 minutes from me (our district was rural as well). Seems to me their parents and my parents simply took turns or worked out whatever was equitable when we had sleepovers, or we would ride each others bus home from school. We never did much after school during the week though, it was always ride the bus home on Friday and stay the night and most of Saturday type things, to prevent such long drives for only a few hours time.

I am excited for your daughter and hope you and her mom also become friends!
