So, April 23rd at 7AM we are off to Disney, we will be landing in Floridia at 9:30 in the morning!!! O.k. I'm really getting nervous and anxious, and I have been reading these boards, and so I finally thought I would make my post. I'm 22, and I have been to Disney with my parents at 4, 9ish and 14ish. Now I am going with my fiance and his 2 kids (8 and 10). This is our first like big vacation on our own, and well mine the first I am more of an adult than a kid. (We went to the beach for a week, but that was with my parents too... so...). Now I love Disney, but I'm just so anxious what if we get bad weather, what if we don't make our flight, and then to top it off I have 2 picky eaters. The 8 year old is way worse than the 10 (which she has to eat off the adult menu right, we have the dining plan). But, I'm thinking what is my step-son going to eat, I've been looking through the menus on here and thinking oh man... I't gona be ruff. Then I am looking at the pictures and thinking will they even want to eat some of this stuff, it all looks soo... creative and mixed (and I don't mind that, but the kids??). Now, I didn't really see any food from where we are eating (50's, Sci-Fi, Rain Forest, Hoop-De-Do and I can't think right now) We are staying at CB, which is where we stayed the last time I was there, and I really liked it there. Does any one have any advice, tips whatever for me?? Something to calm my anxiousness becuase I'm going to be a wreck when it starts to become packing time. I just don't want to mess anything up for the kids. Thanks!

In 2004, my family was there 4/24-4/29 and we had GREAT weather. So we'll all send you pixie dust hoping you'll have the same! :)

I think even picky eaters should be able to find something they like - most of the menus are pretty varied. And there is always dessert.

Take a deep breath - keep reading all of the trip reports and restaurant reviews to tide you over. And most of all, enjoy every minute you are there - because you are making memories at DISNEY!!! :wizard:

Congrats on going first of all.. :thumbsup2

The only advice I would give is to take it easy.. It sounds like this is their first trip to WDW so let them experience it.. You'll get a feel for how much they can do each day and dont push them..

You will make some wonderful memories.. :goodvibes

Go to the dollar store buy ponchos, don't let bad weather stop you. You will be at Disney even in bad weather it's great.

luvnstuf....... you sound just like me....... my family just got back last week and it was our first trip..... i was just like you!!! im in the childcare buisness and everyone started getting sick the week before we left .... my dd age 9 ended up with the flu only 5 days before takeoff..... and my other dd age 15 ended up going to the doctor 2 days before with a horrible sore throat and really bad congested cough.... i was a mess!!!! i wanted to make sure it wasnt strep throat....... thank god it wasnt.... but everything worked out great both kids got better and we had a great time...... so calm down and take a deep breath!!! everything will be fine!!! have a great time!! vicki

stop the worrying, relax but be anxious but remember to let the magic come to you. Don't force the issue, see the sights, spend time looking at the landscape and buildings of Disney. Visit your resort, wander the grounds and basically smell the flowers. Disney is not just an amusement park, its a family experience with sensory exhibits to see, feel and smell. Take a stroll up Main Street in the MK and smell the cookies from the bakery, smell and taste a hotdog from Caseys. Wander into Adventureland, close your eyes and feel the drums from the Tki exhibit, or listen to the spiel from the jungle cruise. The sights and sounds from the different parks are more of a thrill to me than the actual rides and just knowing, "I'm in Disneyworld" right now, this instant and am really enjoying the sights and people around me, that I can only have here is priceless.

You'll find upon your return to the real world, you'll be planning that next vacation to WDW as soon as possible, because it is the most magical place on earth.

Oh sweetie... relax. It's Disneyworld. Your picky eaters will find plenty to eat... if in doubt ask. For the last couple of years everytime we go down we are in the middle of a HURRICANE... but guess what, It was wonderful! crowds thinned out and it cooled off and the sun always came out later. Bring light weight ponchos and you'll be set. There is soooo much to do indoors as well. I feel for you because I know how wonderful you really "need" this to be for your new family... I can promise that even if it's a Hurricane as long as you "breath" and let it happen you will, and everyone else will, have one of the most magical times of your lives. I can't think of a better first family trip to go on!! :wizard: You all NEED this vacation... :grouphug:

The best advice - relax! I know sometimes that is easier said than done but you'll be fine. The kids will love the places you have chosen to eat. The 50's Prime Time is like 50s mom's home cooking. The Sci-Fi has more but also like hamburgers, etc. The the HDDR is barbeque type food and it is great fun. As has been spoken, it's Disney, have fun. Everything will work out fine and you will find that you want to go again.
