We've sailed on all four ships and we enjoy them all. The newer ships have more bells and whistles, but the older ones are kept up beautifully and offer lots of activities. The Magic recently added on-demand programming on stateroom TVs, which used to be exclusive to the Dream class, so that really helps if your family likes to unwind with a self-selected Disney movie in the stateroom after a long day. It has an Aqua Dunk drop-down waterslide, and a tamer but still fun Twist and Spout waterslide for both kids & adults.Just booked the 8 day Mediterranean from Rome for next June!! I'm so excited I don't know what to do with myself! It will be my husband, myself and our then 7 year old son.
This will be our third cruise and first one on one of the smaller ships...excited to see what the Magic is all about! This will also be our first time not getting a verandah. We usually stay in the extended verandahs on deck 5...I booked us in a midship Oceanview on deck 2 for this cruise. I'm really hoping I won't regret this...verandahs are running about $1,500 more. We may upgrade down the road but I'm bracing myself for flight costs. Anyone stayed in an Oceanview on deck 2 on the Magic? If so what did you think?
Also for those that have been on the bigger ships and then one of the smaller ones did you still enjoy yourself? We love the Aquaduck and mini golf and the other features but also excited to see what all the Magic has to offer
We just disembarked from the Wonder on Monday, and we did have a verandah which we shelled out a lot of extra money for, and it was worth it, but we were sailing to Alaska, where the scenery was incredible. I'd never pay thousands extra for a verandah for a Bahamian or Caribbean cruise. I've never sailed the Med, but doubt the views are so extraordinary that a porthole stateroom wouldn't suffice. We booked the Norwegian Fjords cruise for next year and will sail in an oceanview, as that cruise & flights to Europe are expensive enough without adding the verandah premium. On our very first DCL cruise on the Magic we sailed in an inside stateroom, and it was fine. All staterooms on DCL are lovely.
