The banking deadline for an October UY is May 31st. You may bank up to 100% of remaining points. October 2018 points are able to be banked up until May 31, 2019. The banking window is for banking current points and an Oct UY is currently in it's 2017 UY. If you had any 2017 points then they would need to be banked by May 31, 2018.

The March UY banking deadline is October 31st.

If you still have points from your 2017 March allotment, you have until October 31 to bank them. I have a March UY, AND 1 point left over, but it is a point that was banked from 2016 UY, so I will lose it.
I had a totally unexpected surgery in September and had to lose some great stays, including a GCV stay. I was very lucky to rent all but that 1 point through David’s.

No reason to be embarrassed! Ok - so if they are 2018 points the banking deadline is October 31, 2018. You actually couldn't even bank them if you tried - the system would only allow banking of any March UY 2017 points currently. You always pay dues Jan 1 for the calendar year. You don't pay them by the UY.

Points need to be banked during the first 8 months of your UY. Your UY is not a calendar year. Points need to be available during the dates of your stay, not when you make the reservation. Banking moves points one UY forward, borrowing moves points one UY back. Banking and borrowing are final transactions and can not be reversed.

Just wanted to say Welcome Home to Pluto777. Don't be afraid to ask anything, it takes a while to get used to all the "ins and outs" of DVC ownership and use years.

Here is another scenario for you that you may need in the future. A reservation that crosses use years. I have a June use year. I had 171 points in my 2017 use year remaining. I wanted to use those points to book a reservation May 30 to June 5, 2018. I needed to book 2 nights (May 30 and 31) then bank the remaining points, and then book June 1 to 5. I then called Member Services to have them note that it was a continuing stay so I would not need to change rooms.

Just remember, most if not all of us didn't know a lot of the details about DVC at first. This board, and others, are a great way to learn. Never feel embarrassed about asking a question, more than likely thousands of other have ask the same question as they were learning. This board has many, many experts, often knowing more than the DVC CMs.

Thanks so much for posting this - I was considering booking a late Nov/early Dec. 2018 stay & have a Dec. use year - and remembered it was complicated to do but didn't remember how to do it, now I know for when my 11 months open up. I wonder will I have to wait a couple of days between reservation 1 and 2 for the 11 month window to open to make the second reservation?

The maintenance fees will be due in January 2018, they go by calendar year, not use year. The dues will likely show on your account after the annual membership meeting, that is when the resort budgets are formally approved.

The meeting is usually in early December. This year it is December 7, 2017.
