SO disappointed in Earl of Sandwich

I think some may also be personal preference. I know many people love Earl. I've never had anything awful there, but it's also overrated IMO. We used to have a couple of local Earl's, but they all went out because other chains like Potbelly and WhichWich are favored more by local patrons. I can't blame OP either for writing it off. Too often we give things second chances because the masses rave about it, but there are so many other options that it might be better to just try something new that hasn't been bad for you in the past.

I agree! I think you nailed it. Thats also my guess as to why its so popular. Its priced better than most places in disney. To me, its a glorified subway...its a sandwich for crying out loud! Not a great one. So I really dont get the hype it gets. :confused3 When im at DS no way i'd pick EoS over something like WGPE for example.

We really like EoS when we are traveling on 95. We stop in Maryland and eat there. It's one of the better highway rest stop foods. My SO really enjoys them when we travel. I wouldn't go to DS just to try EoS.

I think it's several steps up from Subway's:).
That is certainly true, I won't eat at a Subway . And though I'm not a huge fan, while on the turnpike I eat at EOS but I've always had a somewhat really soft sub roll, never a biscuit. Never had a breakfast EOS, maybe that's where the dry, crumbly biscuit comes in.

Both Earl of Sandwich and Wolf gang puck express --as well as all the sandwich shops mentioned are available at many airports as well as stand alones or side of road places.
I personally enjoy Earl of Sandwich at Disney as they give you a better sandwich for a lesser price than the Disney owned QS locations. Is it great... no is it good yes... for a sandwich. The locations for both EOS and WPE have a huge turn around at Disney at that's what makes them all the better... I have eaten at WPE and EOS in other locations and it was not very good to bad... If you have a local chain of anything the place that does the most business will always be the best place as the food is fresher. I personally will never set foot in another Subway (all around me count the meat and some are just not visited much) Jersey mikes I though was just bad period... I could go on and on as some areas I have been to a chain place was great go local and it is bad...look for the line that is my motto when it comes to any chain place.

Yes, for a pit stop off the highway, I would totally eat here too! But definitely not at DS.

That is exactly how we feel too. First time we had it in 2012 in Calirofrnia, it was a bit higher quality than it is today. Plus the one at WDW is always mobbed with people now, so perhaps they're rushing orders a bit? We don't really have many in Philly (a casino and the airport) so I cannot compare the quality. It's a skip for us now.
Yes but you don't need it in Philly- you have Campo's, Ricci's, Sonny's, et al. Just back from a weekend of food, street fairs, and museums in your town. Thank you, SEPTA and NJ Transit!.

We did not like it at all. Did not like the bread either. I got a salad and it was a pre-packed salad like you would get at an airport. Tasteless and wilted. We will never go back. I don't get all the love for this place. Maybe it was an off night but there are so many better QS restaurants at Disney Springs IMO.

Subway's is only from hunger for me...nooo not just hunger more like Biafran starvation :duck:.

I’ve never eaten there nor have I ever seen any outside of Downtown Disney (haven’t been since it became Springs), but I just want to add that biscuits used for sandwiches at fast food places are never good.

Sandwiches on biscuits from McDonald’s, Quik Chek, 7-11, etc. are always lousy.

Obviously, it’s different at home if I bake poppin’ fresh biscuits and serve them with scrambled eggs and sausage, but served cold or held under a heat lamp, biscuit sandwiches are horrible.

I feel the same way. My sandwich was okay, but I thought it was no better then the best Subway. Give me Blaze Pizza over here any day.

I couldnt have said it any better. I feel the same way.

We have one in our airport. I tried it once, but I couldn't understand why people praised it so much. I thought maybe the one in DS is better.

Just went on their website and they do not have any biscuits. The ham and cheese sandwich on their menu has a mustard sauce. I always get the full Montagu which is their roast beef. My kids usually get the turkey. Every time we have had a sandwich from there it has been fresh and really good. I like the bread and it has never "crumbled" on us. Sorry OP if you had a bad experience. I do not think this is the norm.

Sad that you had a bad experience there but we have always loved Earl. We have had great sandwiches at both Disney Springs and Downtown Disney in Anaheim. They have one in Vegas but yet to try that one. We have one now in San Jose which is not to far but have yet to go there. I love there Turkey Holiday sandwich. It is the best. Hopefully if you give it another chance you have a better experience.

Why is Earl of Sandwich so well liked? Three words: Holiday. Turkey. Sandwich.

I really am not sure where this "biscuit" that everyone keeps referring to come from. Unless it is on their breakfast menu, I don't think Earl has such a thing. Their sandwich bread is pretty normal if you ask me.

I think it's the artisan bread. It tastes biscuity to me. Give me the bread at Subway any day. I'm all about the bread.

Memories, Subway bread smells so good when you walk in. I remember when the subs were so good, and instead of cutting them sideways, they would cut out a wedge right on top to fit your cold cuts etc. To compete with other fast food, they gave up on quality.

Subway has nothing on Blimpie. I grew up not far from the original Blimpie Base in Hoboken, New Jersey. Every now and then when I was a kid, we got a bunch of their sandwiches for dinner.

Believe it or not, their shredded lettuce with vinegar, oil, pepper and oregano was what put them on the map in the 1960’s.
