so confusing looking at flights from chicago to london

I am just starting to look at flights for our British Isle cruise
so looking at chicago to london on british airways shows
economy but theres no checked bags--how can you fly to europe and not be able to check bags actually it even though your on british website it shows it as american airlines
so I went through both websites and went through the whole booking process

and timewise everything is the same as far as leaving and arriving
yet the prices area bit different
I did see somewhere that its british air operated on american air

so really what airline are we really on if its british operated by american
could someone here please set me straight thanks

You'd be flying American metal. BA codeshares so you can pay BA, use Avios and get Avios.
You can have checked bags, you just have to pay for them. Unless it's a basic economy fare, but I don't think BA does those on international routes. If you're not looking to use BA Avios for the flight, book on American.
