I am usually very good at making decisions, but this time I am at a loss :confused3 . I have booked 5 days at BWV for Nov. 13-18 and then have reservations at POR for the 18th-26th. Am I staying too long? I will be traveling with DH,DD11,DD8,DD5. I am worried that POR will feel too small after BWV. But I think POR seems like a nice resort and would like to stay there also. Anyone have any suggestions? Shorten the stay and stay somewhere more deluxe? Leave it alone? Shorten the stay (because it is too long), but leave the resorts alone? See, I am driving myself crazy. It is getting time to purchased airfare and I need to make a final decision.
PLEASE someone offer some advice. I need extra help from people who know.
DH is no help, he says he will support whatever I want to do. Sometimes it would be easier if he wasn't so agreeable. ;)

Couple of Questions:

Is this your first visit to WDW?

Are you just visiting the Disney Parks or are you visiting "Other" Parks as well?

Will you have a car?

How much do you have to spend on lodging?

We have not been to Disney in about 6 years. We plan on getting a car from 11/17-11/20 to meet some family in various locations, but we will not be doing any other parks, but Disney. We hope to keep lodging at around $2100 for the time we are there. I guess now I just need to figure out how long to be at Disney. :confused3 TIA

WOW! How are you doing 5 nights at BWI and 8 nights at POR for only $2100? Or are you staying on DVC points at BWI and the $2100 is only for the rest of your trip?

My own preference would be to end the trip at the higher end resort. My reasoning is that I will spend the final days comparing the first resort to the second and I don't believe that, as nice as POR is, it will compare favorably to BWI. You'll have less room, it is less convenient to EPCOT & MGM and the pool is not as impressive.

You will also be at WDW during Thanksgiving week in the latter part of your trip. VERY CROWDED! I'd be spending more time away from the parks and at my resort towards the end of such a trip. For that reason, I'd want a little more space and nicer ammenities, including the use of a kitchen so that I could avoid the crowded restaurants as much as possible.

If flipping the BWI & POR stays is not a possiblity, then I would upgrade to a deluxe resort with a room that sleeps 5 without having to pull out a trundle bed. AKL is just a few dollars over $2100 for the nights you're staying at POR. With an AP discount or AAA rate, you could get it for less. I think you might find that arrangement a little more comfortable.

No way do I think that your stay is too long. What size unit do you have booked at BWV? If it is a studio, it will not be much bigger than your POR room, but if it is a 1 bedroom your POR room will definitely seem smaller. POR is our favorite non-DVC resort, and we LOVE BWV. IMHO, you might have been better off to do POR first, then BWV. Then you could do lots of parks the first week and end your vacation in leisure at BWV, using the washer/dryer to do dirty stuff from the first week and again to go home with clean clothes. You also would not have to worry about having too much refrigerator stuff leftover from the BWV unit. Is it too late to switch the order of the resorts?
In any event, you will make it work and have a wonderful time, I'm sure. Enjoy!

Some families go nuts in a small space. Others find it perfectly acceptable. We are the type of family that can deal with a small space (Our house is small, we go camping alot, we are used to it) I have read posts on this board where people say things like "The 5 of us sleeping in one room is not my idea of a relaxing vacation" The funny thing is - that is my exact idea of a vacation- I guess because that is how we did it when I was a kid. When my kids hit adolesence that will probably change.
If the POR rooms are set up like POFQ- there is a curtain that can divide the room into about 3/4 - 1/4. So that is kind of nice. I think the mods are fine for my family of 5 but I think it mainly depends on how your family deals with small spaces and how much you are going to be in the room.
Alot of good points about ending your trip at BW (especially the clean laundry one) but I wouldn't switch the order of the resorts because you will pay alot more for BW on the weekends and as it is now you are maximizing your $ by doing BW Sun- Fri much cheaper.

It might be possible (depending on room availability and personal schedule) to keep BWV dates the same and go to POR the week BEFORE BWV. (May not work for the family's schedule.)
