Last weekend I was in Orlando. Better yet, I was in WDW. Actually I went to DTD, ate at Wolfgang Pucks, and did some shopping. It was pure torture.

I had to go to Orlando for a business trip. It was a wonderful trip, and the highlight was a visit to DTD. I can't complain except that I was so close to the parks and resorts, but I couldn't go. I saw the tip of Blizzard Beach's Summit Plummet, the water tower at MGM, the Swan and Dolphin, bits of Pop Century, the Boardwalk, etc. As I walked through DTD I watched the boats shuttle folks around, and I wished that I was on one of them.

Anyway, when I logged on to DIS today, I was surprised that the Tag Fairy gave me a visit while I was gone. What a wonderful surprise and treat! Thank you, TF!!

Anyone else been that close to WDW and yet not be able to visit? Even driving through the arched sign was torture.

Don't know how you did it...

Yes. Once we were asked to drive down with a coworker friend who was going for an interview at Disney World.

We were dirt poor college students, and could barely afford a cheap-o offsite hotel for the night, let alone tickets to the parks, so I think what we did while our friend was occupied was just browse around Kissimmee. Our big splurge was buying some Disney trading cards at a card shop somewhere.

I recall we were almost desperate enough to enjoy a few hours at Disney that we contemplated putting ourselves through one of those high-pressure sales thingies where they'll give you a park ticket for "free," but in the end we didn't.

As you say, so close and yet so far...

LOL....I know how you feel....

I used to be an AP holder....Would go all the time.....Now when we go over there to hang out...It is pure torture....So close....but so far away and expensive $$$$...

That is so sad! :( I don't think I could stand it. I could just imagine the tears rolling down my face. I hope you have an extra, extra wonderful time on your next trip. You deserve it! :)
