So cal ticket upgrade?

The so cal 2 and 3 day tickets have blockout dates. Anyone know if you can buy a regular one day ticket and then upgrade it to the so cal ticket deal before the end of the day? It does cost more so I would think it would upgrade like any other ticket. Thanks.

I've heard of many people upgrading regular tickets to annual passes but never using a regular ticket to upgrade to a discount multi day ticket. I'd email disney and ask. That way if you get a favorable response you have something to show to justify the upgrade because you can get many different (sometimes conflicting) responses from disney customer service. All of this is assuming that you are a SoCal resident with ID to prove it. But honestly I don't think it will work, but then again, I have never tried to do it so I can't really say. Good Luck

I wouldn’t believe that disney would allow that loophole. The only reason to do that would be to go on a day that the tickets are blacked out, and they’ll know because you’d have to upgrade that day. If they then gave you the value of your ticket towards the upgrade, you’re getting in at the same price as everyone else who buys it but you got to go on a day they didn’t include. Essentially you aren’t going to pay more, they would apply your ticket price to the upgrade, so you’d pay the same in the end.

Considering the misery it was upgrading our normal park hopper tickets to APs I would never attempt something as potentially convoluted as this could be. Buy the ticket you need from the get go and save yourself the fear & hassle of attempting that sort of upgrade.

Yes, BUT. I was thinking it could be like buying a two day ticket for example, using them on dates blocked out by a pass then upgrading to an annual pass. They allow that.

Really? I had no problem with upgrading our 2-day tix to annual passes last year.

I’ll check with online chat and report back. I thought maybe someone here might have tried (whether failed or succeeded).
Thanks

Really. Over an hour and she almost killed the MP we'd bought that day. Multiple times she required a supervisor and the with the supervisor literally looking over her shoulder she said she finally got it and they told us our total of over $400- when it was supposed to be $80. Our "WHAT?!" shrieks (especially after she'd initially quoted the expected $80 half an hour earlier and told us what a great deal it was) got that fixed right quick. Miserable experience. In general it's hit and miss, if you get a newbie settle in and bring coffee because it'll take forever (me). If you get a vet you'll be out decently fast (you).

Ugh! We must’ve gotten someone who knew what they were doing.

Yes, you can definitely upgrade your Theme Park ticket into a Park Hopper® or add more days (up to a total of 5), by visiting any of our ticket windows, located just outside our theme park entrances. This can be done at the ticket booth.

You

Megan Rose

Keep in mind. Once you validate tickets, you have until May 24to use the rest. Keep in mind of the block out dates: March 23, 2018, through April 8, 2018.

Each adult will need to show their valid government-issued photo ID as you enter the parks.

You

so I have the regular ticket with no blackout dates. Say I go April 8, and before the end of the day I upgrade it to the so cal ticket. will that work

Megan Rose

at 12:00, Mar 21:

As long as the ticket is still active, you may visit the ticket booth.

You

at 12:00, Mar 21:

ok so even though I use the regular ticket on a day blocked out by the so cal ticket I can still upgrade it to the so cal ticket?

You

at 12:03, Mar 21:

so lets say on April 8, I use my REGULAR ticket.

Megan Rose

at 12:03, Mar 21:

Correct.

You

at 12:03, Mar 21:

before the end of the day, I upgrade my ticket to the so cal ticket.

Megan Rose

at 12:03, Mar 21:

You would need to upgrade on the same day of use.

Megan Rose

at 12:04, Mar 21:

Yes, by taking your ticket to the ticket booth.

You

at 12:04, Mar 21:

they'll let me upgrade that ticket to the so cal even though the day I used my regular ticket was a day blocked out by the so cal ticket?

Megan Rose

at 12:05, Mar 21:

Correct the value will be applied to the SoCal ticket.

You

at 12:06, Mar 21:

ok perfect. Thank you so much

I know you have that in writing now, but I feel like that person did not understand what you were asking. I would call specifically the number for guest services at DL and ask to speak to a supervisor. I would not trust that they would honor that chat.

Yes, BUT. I was thinking it could be like buying a two day ticket for example, using them on dates blocked out by a pass then upgrading to an annual pass. They allow that.

Yeah but that’s a bigger expense and good all year, not discounted, and they want your money. They have the blackout dates on those SoCal tickets for a reason, you are getting a discount for going on off days. Personally I feel like it is cheating the system a little, I would be surprised if they actually allow it. A pass is a differet beast to me.
