So Cal resident 3-day offer 1/9/17 - 5/25/17

could my brother buy these for us if he's coming with us? He lives in SoCal.

Last year, we called Disney and asked a CM this question (I'm a Canadian resident with an Aunt who lives in SoCal). They said that the spirit of the promotion was that SoCal residents would be able to invite family and friends to enjoy Disney with them. They said it was no problem for her to buy tickets for us, but that it HAD to be online. We would not be able to purchase the tickets for ourselves at the on-site Disney ticket booth.

That being said, there are others that certainly have more experience than I on this forum, and they may know more than I. If I were you, I'd get my brother to call Disney directly and ask (or you could do it yourself). We found the CM to be extremely helpful. She seemed like she wanted to help us and make it work for us however she could. We used the SoCal tickets last Feb with absolutely no issue.

So is it legit to buy one for a friend (who does not live in So Cal)? I would be with her going through the gate but would not be using one of the special tickets (I have an AP)

According to the CM we spoke with last year, yes that would be fine. But a quick call to Disney should clear that up for you pretty quick. DarkBeer seems to have info that they may have tightened their policy this year.

I've been on hold for 23 minutes waiting to ask if we will be able to use these tickets if my brother purchases them :P

So the lady I spoke with after being on hold for 27 minutes said that NO ONE that does not have a valid ID can use them. That doesn't make sense to me at all- why could they buy 5???

For their family that lives with them in Southern California. The limit of 5 is based on a single credit card and that person's name and address.

Sorry to hear that. They must have changed policy since last year. My apologies for getting anyone's hopes up.

Ok I've talked to 3 CM on chat and the've all said that the SoCal tickets will all require a SoCal ID- not just the purchaser. If a discrepancy is found, they will send you to buy a full price ticket.

So Cal resident offer good from 1/9/17 - 5/25/17 (purchase by 5/22/17). 3 day tickets ages 3+: $149 for 1 park per day and $189 for 3 day park hoppers. Includes one Magic Morning Early Access. Blockout dates 4/9 through 4/23.

Expiration is confusing. I cannot find out if they are good for the whole time or expire in 13 days. I send an email to get clarification. I'll post when I know more..

I am trying to purchase tickets now and this is what comes up on the very last screen under "Terms and Conditions":

1-day tickets must be used by the dates set forth on such tickets. Unless otherwise stated, multi-day tickets must be used within 13 days after first use or by the stated expiration date, whichever occurs first, and each day of use of a ticket constitutes one full day of use.

The last few years they did not have the 13 day fuse. I assume one of the Disney blogs or sites will ask their contact and get clarification on that soon.

From the Terms and Conditions: 1-day tickets must be used by the dates set forth on such tickets. Unless otherwise stated, multi-day tickets must be used within 13 days after first use or by the stated expiration date, whichever occurs first, and each day of use of a ticket constitutes one full day of use.

It has been confirmed with Disney that it is for the full period. The 13 day thing does not apply.

I am just following this thread. If anyone goes and uses these passes I would love to know if you are actually asked for an ID for all members of the party. My family lives in So Cal and I am not sure if they can go with us. So the question is does just the purchaser need a so cal ID or everyone in the party? I have bought these before at a so cal grocery store at my parents and then used them at the park without issue, but again things may have changed. Seems like there is some conflicting information here so if anyone goes and uses them please report back about ID checks.

I can tell you last year that it was no problem for local residents to purchase tickets for their guests. I am a Canadian with a US bank account under my Aunt's SoCal address. Even though the website said we would be ID-ed, I purchased the tickets online last February and never had any issues with the purchase or at the gate. I called Disney ahead of time and they told me the "spirit of the offer" was for local residents to be able to purchase tickets for their out of town family and guests. But some seem to indicate that there's been a policy change for the new SoCal offer.

I'm very interested to know if others are being ID-ed at the gate. I know that they'll ID you at the Ticket window, but I was told last year they won't ID you at the actual park gate.

Ditto that. I tend to think they might be doing it because before I upgraded to my annual pass, we had a 2 day 1 park per day. At the turnstile, they took a picture, issued a card, and made me sign it. So I think they may very well ask for ID on the first use of it when they take the picture. I would hope not because I might like to take some out of state friends with me...

The deal is different and better than in the past, so I wouldn't be surprised if they check ids for it now, or at the very least want the CMs to check.

Good point, in the past, Disney has stop checking some ID's when the park gets very busy, to keepthe lines moving.

So one person could have his ID checked, and hour later, another isn't asked.

But it is easy to do, and shouldn't take that long, since on the first use, they will need to take the photo plus have you place your name on the ticket. Of course, day 2 and 3, all they need to do is check the photo.

But I am also interested to hear the real time accounts of those who use the new SoCal special.

And Disney policy is to just check the Adults, as they don't expect kids to have an ID.

They don't expect kids to have ID for entry, they do expect it if they're the So Cal resident and tickets are being bought for others.

Unfortunately, I just got off the phone with Disneyland ticketing and they confirmed that, unlike last year, this year they will be checking ID's for all tickets, not just the purhaser, so all those who use the special tickets must have
and address within those zip codes. Not cool! Very disappointing.
