I can't believe my eyes. From the looks of the Disneyland park calendar, World of Color and the nightly fireworks are ending after September 6th. And we will be visiting September 14-19. How on earth could they not continue to have each of these, at least on weekends?! Does anyone know what is going on with this? I can't imagine Disney spent that much money just to have World of Color be a seasonal thing. :sad2:

I even called Disney and they said they didn't yet know if World of Color will continue to run. This sucks.

I can assure you its not ending. Management just hasn't decided how often the show will be running in the off peak season. Is it worth extending park hours on weekdays to be able to show WOC or will it be weekend's only, thats the question. Right now I am guessing it will probably be Fri,Sat,Sun only during the off peak season. But it's most definitely not ending, the times just haven't been scheduled yet.

I think there's a similar question floating around about the Aladdin show, which has also dropped off the schedule.

I hope you are right, but the calendar shows Fantasmic playing on Friday-Sunday, September 10-12, but no fireworks and no World of Color.

Why would they have it on weekends and not schedule it? Everything else is updated and correct.

There's been a lot of discussion regarding this lately. But it wouldn't be realistic for them to not show it. We're still waiting on quite a bit of details for this fall, and WOC is just one of them, so it's looking/sounding like things just haven't been decided yet. Same thing goes for Aladdin.

Aladdin is ending on August 15th. It was in the Spring/Summer edition of Backstage Pass. It will be replaced with Toy Story in early 2011.

That's actually no longer correct. An extension was announced back in May on the Disney Parks Blog, although they never specified until when:

Contrary to earlier reports, the Hyperion Theater won’t be setting the genie free just yet. By popular demand, “Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” will remain at Disney’s California Adventure park.

We received a lot of comments on the Blog asking for Aladdin to continue its run. It’s almost as if the Genie granted your wish!

Although “Toy Story – The Musical” was scheduled to move into Hyperion Theater following Genie’s last bow, Buzz, Woody and their pals will stay focused on the new additions in Toy Story Mania…for now.

Construction has been scheduled near the Hyperion Theater for August 15. Although that may still impact some performances, we’re doing everything we can to keep the show up and running. Stay tuned to the Blog for updates, and we’ll share details when we have them (or, you can always check disneyland.com for showtimes).

Now, close your eyes, make a wish and hit play to see Genie in action. And don’t forget to tell us your favorite Genie joke – and oh, no wishes for more wishes.

It is no longer ending, it is being extended to at least the first of the year.

World of Color has the ability to be changed very very easily to seasonal/holiday/different themes. World of Color is going to be around for a long long time

Well, lets just hope they figure things out and get the calendar updated soon. Crossing fingers! :goodvibes

SD33.... this is actually a normal issue that pops up at DLC and WDW each year. We ran into same thing headed to WDW during Spring Break. I was being my usual addict and figuring out our schedule for each day probable 3 moths in advance. The Disney site didn't show several programs/events that were in fact all running when we got there. I would say if there has been no "official" anouncement of a closure, then set your mind at ease.... they just haven't set the schedule yet.

Hope your trip is "Magical"!

Aladdin's been on the chopping block for a while. They just haven't decided when to swing the ax.

WoC won't be going anywhere for a long time. Disney didn't spend all that money just to run it for a few months. It'll be around for years unless some irreparable engineering flaw turns up.

WOC: as PP said, they don't know how often and on which days they will show it yet. But it's not gone.

Fireworks: I'd hazard a guess they are deciding between continuing Magical or bringing back the beloved RDCT.

Alladin: With the construction of the trolly near Hyperion Theater, they aren't sure when exactly it'll be shown (or times due to WOC) but it'll be there per my recent AP email.

Park schedules are posted no more than 6 weeks in advance and sometimes as little as 3-4 weeks.

I wish they would bring back RDCT fireworks...much better than Magical from what I watched on youtube : )

I just got off the phone with WDTC as I was adding 2 more nights onto my GCH Sept. ressie. It was funny because as I was talking with the CM, I mentioned how I was in DL in May, then she said "Oh so you haven't seen World of Colour yet?" I said no, not yet and then I mentioned how was disappointed I was that it wasn't playing during my trip (so says the calendar). The CM on the phone told me that they just haven't updated their calendars yet so not to worry that I should be able to see it on my trip (Sept 6-13). I laughed and said great, thanks for clearing that up.

Anyway I wouldn't worry, it will be playing.

RDCT is back. It runs when Magical, Hallowishes and Holiday fireworks are not going.

I'm hoping they will show RDCT this fall....oh wait, I'm not going until Xmas season now....okay nevermind!! :lmao:
