Corey is in Irving, TX this week. She is stuck at her hotel today because the office she is supposed to be at this week is closed due to an ice storm. I thought it might be nice to make sure that everyone is ok out there.

Jackskellingtonsgirl and others, are you doin' ok?

It was a mess in Northern VA yesterday. It is a little better today. I was off today so I can spend the day watching movies. :happytv:

Nope.

It's supposed to get up to 82 degrees today.

:teeth:

snowy, rainy, icey here in NJ. Yuck!

Well, DISD was closed today, which NEVER happens. They would rather put the kids in grave danger than cancel school.

I got to come in 45 minutes late this morning. My bosses had to be at work, so despite having a clause in my contract about NOT working if there is ice I really had to come in. The drive sucked - top speed of 25 mph ALL the way.

DH had it worse than me - he had to leave at 3:30 AM and drive to work in the ice IN THE DARK.

I am sorry Corey is stuck at her hotel. How boring for her! It has all melted now, so tomorrow we'll be back to business as usual. I was shocked at all of the places that were just on delayed opening today as opposed to closed. DS has theater class starting in a few minutes.

I thought it was more of a mess today. Yesterday was snow and this morning was ice. It took 45 minutes to warm up the car and scrape the ice off of it before I could head to work at 6 this morning. I passed several accidents this morning and since I work for the power company we had to deal with the outages caused by the ice.

Tomorrow morning will also be a mess with ice from the rain falling this evening and temps dropping into the 20's tonight to freeze it all.

I just love working for the power company during ice storms and hurricanes. We don't get a lot of sleep. Have to get the lights on!!

We lost power late Monday night. It was nuts.... 3.5 inches of ice and then 4 inches of snow on top. Trees were popping like popcorn.

Yesterday I woke up, no power. I called the electric company and waited 30 mins to be told it would be "at least a few days". I then went to pee and realized the water pressure was almost nil. Ok, bad situation is getting worse. I gandered outside and talked to a neighbor who told me the road was finally "passable" if you had a 4 wheel drive.... and I do!

I packed the kids and the dogs and we are now at my grandpas condo at Myrtle Beach. Oh yeah we woke to the beach this am!!!

We will go home when its thawed and they have water and power. Until then I am going swimming!

Many thoughts so the thousands and thousands still without power!

Beth, I hope you shut your water off! If not your pipes may burst! :scared:

Hopefully not -- if the water pressure's down cuz' her city's water systems' pumps are down, it's possible her lines aren't full so even they freeze, the ice will have room to expand.

When the pump on our multi-family well quits for whatever reason, our pipes empty out pretty quick. It also depends on where her backflow prevention is.

I think it's starting to warm up here a little bit. The snow is starting to slide off our roof, and icicles are falling off the tree branches.......which is dangerous! :scared1:

I have/had one of those evergreen shrub/tree things by the back door that stood about 6 feet tall, but I noticed today that because of the weight of the snow and ice it toppled over. The trunk, which was about 6-7 inches wide, just snapped. I'm gonna miss that shrub. :sad1:

Thanks! I shut off my water main at the road and opened all my faucets ;).

My pipes should be good *fingers crossed*.

Now let that storm dump more snow up there mon-tues and its a niiice reason to be at the beach longer ;)

Wow you have a selfish steak! :lmao: It's not cold there? It's gonna be real cold here in Orlando tonight, down to 30 from what I hear! :crazy2:

Guilty as charged! They changed the forecast. My power is back off at home anyway has been since yesterday. Oh well.... its nice here. It was 63 today. Much better than 22 at home. We spent the day in the indoor pool and floating around the lazy river. It was tough ;)
