So are we getting Star Wars speeders?

I'd heard one of the rumored e-ticket rides for the expected (?) Star Wars land in DHS would be a speeders simulation.

In a recent interview Jim Hill said that was the plan and that it was to go in where Indy theater is now. Then he said that plans have changed and Indy is staying...

What he didn't clarify is if the speeders were scrapped or just moved.

Anyone know?

Also, generally speaking how accurate is Jim in his rumors/predictions?

I would say Jim is so-so I listened to that podcast you are discussing. Todays disney company does what they want. I will say a star wars land of sorts is planned for DHS its just when and if it will come. Same with other things, like planned hotels, DVC, countries in epcot etc. Disney has plans up the wazoo for things its just what gets approved and what doesn't. I have heard mixed things on the speeder bike thing as well. Orginally it was a full coaster, next it was just a simulator now it may not happen at all who knows until shovels start digging.

Don't know for sure but it sounds like a wild guess. I will say, that if this is indeed true, you can color me somewhat disappointed. Star Wars Speeders mark a great opportunity for Disney to do something similar to Radiator Spring Racers or some kind of dueling coaster attraction instead of another 3D/4D simulator ride. Star Tours is pretty good so there's no need to expand into that territory again utilizing the same IP.

On second thought, I wouldn't be as disappointed with another Star Wars simulator ride as long as it implements cutting edge technology. I still think Disney can do something else quite amazing with the speeders instead of a simulator ride. :thumbsup2

Mis-read the title of this post as Star Wars Speedos, I thought we were getting skimpy Darth Vader swimwear!

As long as it is not pod-racers. Please don't let it be pod-racers!

You'd be stuck riding it for 45 minutes!!!

I want a Dumbo spinner type ride with X-wings separated by TIE fighters. They all need targeting systems so that you can target and shoot down the person in front of you. They can keep score and do fun things and have cool sound effects when shooting or when hit.
Maybe have some sort of mini Death Star run game along the outside that does fun stuff like the Simpson's spinner. Small and simple to fit in.

Heck, even just having full scale mock ups of vehicles and fighters from the movies that you can walk through and sit in would be AWSOME! The AT-AT in MGMS is cool but imagine how much cooler it be if you could interact with it?

This would be in addition to a real E-ticket ride though. I would consider a Star Wars land an abject failure if they don't put something in on the scale of HP land's FJ.

There is so much Star Wars sexy swimwear out there... Thinking of getting myself a one piece myself....

im not a big fan of disney doing a star wars land as i am not a big star wars fan. but without a question hollywood studios needs something! i would be down for them expanding pixar land as that is a sad excuse for a land. i think an incredibles ride would be amazing. the only down side to them doing anything with hollywood is that they are gonna have to close down most of the park and that would make the question. "Is it really worth going to?"

I'm not a huge Star Wars fan either but you have to realize the size of this franchise disney should do something with it in the parks.

Plus it is something for boys. Disney has been pushing princesses for years but doesn't have much for boys in their stable. Cars and Toy Story don't move the needle much for boys over 6. Now they've added Marvel and Star Wars. They'd be stupid not to put them in the parks wherever they can.

for sure disney should do something however i don't think it should take up the whole park. I would still love to see pixar land expanded. hopefully that happens along with star wars. Also if they do do a star wars land i think there should really add the characters in it. hollywood only has fur characters in it right now (other then characterpoloza) and i think luke and laya will be a great add to the line up at hollywood

You'll ride on a track in a Star Wars vehicle a la Nemo and The Little Mermaid. Along the way, there will be scenes of Luke, Hans, Leia, and various other characters. Darth Vader will tell Luke he is his son in the second to last scene. Finally, we will see all of the characters holding hands and singing It's a Small World.

:) I don't want to be disappointed. There was such hoopla over the Fantasyland expansion and we get the lame Little Mermaid ride. SDMT is not much better. Hopefully, someone affiliated with the Star Wars franchise will have some say so in the project IF it ever happens.
