So are people walking for Christmas?

I have a week at BC from Dec 11-18, and wanted to use up some 2020 banked BW points for 1 or 2 days before that Dec 9-11. I thought I'd be able to get something but only the 10th is available and I can't book that yet. Trying for studio preferably but I'm okay with spending the points for a 1 bed. Even the 1 bed is only available at some resorts for the 10th. Of course nothing available at my home resorts. Do you think some will open up once the 7 month window includes Christmas? Is it worth waitlisting? I've never tried the wait list. Was hoping to try SSR for the proximity to Disney Springs, I love the look of the new rooms. Dreaming of a small add on (aren't we all ?).

I hope so. trying to do a 2br thurs dec 9 to mon dec13. got up this morning expecting to at least see Saratoga or old key west. nothing. so I have them both on a waitlist now.

I’d waitlist - what do you have to lose, if you have it expire at 31 days before checkin?

Maybe, but there's seldom much benefit (if any) to walking December reservations at 7 months. (Big probability of getting blocked). Also, Thursday, 12/9 is the DVC annual meeting date, so some are booking for that.

I doubt it is due to anyone "walking" to Christmas. Any walking of significance for that week occurs before the 11-month window opens. It is kind of pointless for someone to be doing a walk now for Christmas with the hope of getting a studio at BCV or BWV at 7 months out for Christmas since studios for Christmas week are already completely filled.

The main problem is that you want time in the second week of December which is the third highest DVC demand week of the year, and thus getting anything at 7-months out for BCV or BWV is very difficult. You likely need waitlisting and stalking to have a chance and the chances are probably not that great.

Yeah I wasn't hoping for BC/BW. The reason I'm in this position is because I kept booking and cancelling. When I cancelled my May trip I was already well into the 11 month window. I was lucky to see a full week a BC, then the 8th and 9th were available at BW, but not the 10th. Any other resort had to wait until 7 months out. I kind of figured I'd be out of luck. Makes sense that it isn't due to walking, now you mention it, Christmas would be booked in home resort window. I'll try wait listing, but flights need to be booked. I usually book my trips right at 11 months, but this year's timing...well you know.

Yeah, not due to walking, but I wouldn't give up hope yet. Wait listing and being flexible to the resort available will be key to getting the dates needed.

You still have some time, but I hear you, I also like firming up airline tickets and rental car reservations ASAP. Good luck, hope you can get in.

Just saw a 1 br at SSR available for your dates. Those were the last two dates I needed and I’ve been stalking for weeks. Just got mine at 5 AM this morning. Good luck.

Just on there at 8 a.m., still only the 10th available both 1 bed and studio, booked the studio. Waitlisted for 1 night Dec 9. The annual meeting wasn't in my head when I was choosing dates as I've never gone to it.

The past few weeks so many have popped up for those dates off and on. Don’t give up hope. I’ve seen BLT, BC, AK. Fingers crossed for you. I had to be on at 4:55 and wait both mornings and everything was gone by 5:02.

I would do a wait list since you are only looking for one night - but yeah, those are not walkers. My home resorts were crazy at 8am, 11 months on the dot for Christmas - and I was looking for a 1br! Managed to land the bookings I wanted, but only by picking up days here and there as people walked past for January. Good luck!
