So annoyed with my local council!!

I am so annoyed with our local council!

Basically there are several large potholes down our road (craters would be more acurate!) which both myself and my neighbours have reported to the council on numerous occasions.

The other day when driving home from work, when it was dark i was driving along our road and hit one of the potholes - now i wasnt going fast, probably around 20mph as i was slowing down to pull into the parking layby. But it still jolted the car quite heavily. As a result of this my airbag warning light came on. So i looked on the internet and found that its quite common with large potholes and took it to a local garage to check the wires/sensors or whatever. However they told me it would need to be taken to ford to have the ECU reprogrammed?

Called Ford and its going to cost me £95 All for a pothole the council should have repaired 12 months ago when it was first reported!!

Im sure they'll soon be increasing my council tax too

The fact that you have reported the potholes mean you have a very good chance of succeeding.
Tell them of your warning notices and give dates.
Threaten the small claims court as well.

Their usual get out is when they do not have warning or reasonable time to fix something.

As Jakey said you have a very good case to claim it back off the council, just put in the claim with date and / or copies of the letters and they will have to admit liability.

I agree with others, try and claim off the council for the cost incurred. You have warned them previously so that should be an advantage.

Thats for the advice everyone! To be honest i hadnt thought about trying to claim off the council. Im off to write a strongly worded letter of complaint and i'll send that in along with copies of the repair bill and photos of the offending potholes!

I'll be chuffed if they do cough up for the bill, but id be happy if they just fix the hole!

Ahh, you live near me, and plenty of people have been claiming off the council. The front of our local newspaper had a cyclist with her face all damaged from one of those pot holes!

I say go for it, they have been to neglagent too long! The roads around us are applaling and i fear for my parents (who cycle almost everywhere) everyday! I wish they would stop overspending on petty things, like forgien paventment slabs you can take gum off, and spend it sorting our towns in Herts out!.
