My dd loves the snowglobes....if we saw a nice one and bought it while at disney, would it have to go in our hold luggage or would it be allowed in our hand luggage?

You cannot take snowglobes in your hand luggage I am afraid but we have taken them in out hold luggage with no problems. Wrap them up in clothes/towel/bubble wrap and bury them in the middle of the case and they will be fine I am sure :goodvibes

I'm going to buy a couple of snow globes when we visit in December, I absolutely love snow globes!
Luckily we're driving, so plenty of room in our car for a couple of snowglobes, and I haven't got to worry too much about them being smashed.

In DLP you should look for the mini snowglobes of the princesses - they're lovely and I haven't seen them anywhere else. We started buying only Aurora and eventually got all five because they're so cute.

If the airport catch you with a snowglobe in handluggage they will make you either drain out the water or leave it behind. Either way snowglobe ruined/wasted.

I did have a friend who bought a snowglobe in WDW and put it in holdluggage and it broke in transit. As far as i can make out from her it was still in its polystyrene packaging and box and then cushioned well with dirty laundry but still the glass cracked and the water leaked out. It was too cheap to be covered by holiday insurance and the airline just said you shouldn't pack breakables in hold luggage so wouldn't give compensation. :sad2: Just a word of warning.

As an alternative you could use the delivery service after your trip. I've had two snowglobes from DLRP that way. It's the cost of the globe plus a reasonable delivery charge. Took about 1 week to arrive after i made the phone call. You need the item number (or a really good description of the item) and the price and when you saw it. The item no. for globes is on the underneath of the base. A helpful cast member wrote mine down for me when i needed them.

Hope you get your snowglobe. I'm driving next week and intending to stock up :lmao:

and they say, thats it can go in my handluggage(spel?)

It's not usually the decision of the airline, it is the airport itself as they employ the security staff. So from DLRP you'd need to ask Charles De Gaulle or Orly airport (depending where you fly from).

The rules worldwide are the pretty much the same - fluid in a 100ml bottle in a clear plastic bag etc. and snowglobes (except maybe the really small ones) must contain more than 100ml. The only exceptions are for baby milk and medicines as far as i am aware.

The Charles de Gaulle website is here and here in French and it says

Transport des liquides

The transport of liquids, gels, pastes and aerosols (mineral water, lotions, creams, mascara, toothpaste, deodorant, perfumes etc.) in containers of less than 100 ml is subject to restrictions:

- all of your bottles must be kept in a single closed transparent bag of one litre maximum (20 cm by 20cm, of the "freezer bag” type sold in supermarkets).
- Make sure that you obtain this bag before coming to the airport.

To me that means you would not be allowed to take a snowglobe through security as it contains too much liquid and you couldn't sneak it through as it would be seen on the x-ray machine.

charles de gualle will not allow you through security with snowglobes in you hand luggage! I would put them in your case but not the massive ones as they will smash, small ones are ok in the case wrapped up with the entire contents of the case.

good luck!

I had a wee bit of perfume left in my hand luggage and I got through the bit where you declare lighters, water etc no bother they said it was fine...
got to the x-ray bit and it was a no go they said I could bin it or go and get my case called back again and pop it in, I binned it...they also said it looked like a hand granade in the x ray and I shouldn't have taken it!:scared1:

As others say Christina the airport security will not allow you to take the globe in hand luggage. I'd be very upset with the airline for giving out this wrong information :)
