This is really a wasted ride - its a bad story and scary for the kids. The one at WDW is a little better story at least. Are they ever going to redo this ride - it really wouldnt take much to pull out the story boards and replace with bright and lighter themes - I know the answer it probably no but maybe I am wrong.

I agree that it is too scary for kids. SW is my DD's favorite princess but we wouldn't let her go on the ride because of the scare factor. I let her watch it on youtube before we went to try to make it less scary, but even that scared her.

However, it is a classic and I would not want to see it changed. I would rather wait for her to ride it when she is a bit less timid than have it changed. It is the original "scary" DL ride! :scared1:

I read that the ride was supposed to be from the point of view that YOU are Snow White. This is why SW never was in the ride. However, people didn't catch on so the added SW. It is very strange and ends so abruptly. We laugh at how one second she is in danger and the next second she lives happily ever after. :)

Last summer my boys, then 14, had no interest in the Fantasyland rides. We were wandering through and I made a comment about how odd SW was. Well, that got them interested so we went on it. Then they wanted to go on the other rides "just to see". :rotfl: So I'm glad for SW because it got my boys try out Fantsayland.

My husband and I also make jokes about the abrupt ending. It's like they ran out of room to finish the story, so they just ENDED it - BAM! :goodvibes

We wouldn't want to see the ride replaced though. It's a classic Disney movie and a classic Disney ride. Now if they wanted to re-do the ride to make it less scary and, of course, have a real ending, then I'm all for it. But I would rather take it like it is than not have it at all, if you know what I mean.

Oh please, don't change SW, I like it!! Yes it's an abrupt ending but it's still a good ride. I like it because it's scary! :) And we always joke at the end too, "and they lived happily ever after" right after the Evil Queen is about to roll a boulder on her Dwarf friends. LOL

We laugh at the ending too..my DS4 turned and said "Um what?" LOL

But I love it anyway. What would you want them to do to change it out of curiousity? If it could come out being true to the rides in that area, maybe just a little less 'BOO' I'd be for it probably? (But my 2 and 4 year olds loved it..they're weird like that)

The movie is pretty darn scary too if you recall! And it's not like they don't warn you - it IS 'Snow White's Scary Adventure' and the queue has a bit of scare to really complete the warning.

And the story about being snow white in the ride is true - and people didn't get it, so they added the first scene. I think I preferred the original.

So true! :rotfl:

Of course its scary. Her stepmother is trying to kill her. I like it as is.

My 2¢ :

Like it "as is" ... the way Walt and the original Imagineers designed it. Remember, this is the movie that really put Disney on the map back in the 30's.

It is a dark story ... movie and ride ... so be it.

I know every kid is different, but my 3 year old daughter was not scared on the ride. Frankly, she doesn't know what "scary" means and we've tried to keep it that way.

There are a lot of other options ride wise ... let's not go changing one of the few remaining original rides because they're "too scary".

Ok I dont know my disney trivia but wasnt this the 2nd Snow White Ride when Fantasy Land was redone/remodel around 1983? So Walt Disney actually wouldnt have had any input on this ride?...ok this is NOT to spark argument, I was just thinking about some of the posts.

My complaint is that there is almost never a line so it would just seem that with a few storybook changes (even to match WDW) it could be a better ride. We will take my daughter/son when they are ready - or at least not make it the first ride like we did last time because there was no line - we will work up to it. She is actually a Disneyland ride fan at 2 1/2

I did appreciate the trivia part about Snow White being added ...that was interesting.

Thanks!

When my kids were small, I use to hide a real apple in my pocket when we got on. When we got toward the end where the door on the cottage would open and the witch was holding out the apple, I would hold out my hand and pretend to grab the apple:rotfl: and give the real apple to one of my kids.... My kids thought it was wonderful and it was always their favorite ride. I use to have to bring a sack of apples with me when we went to Disneyland because they wanted to ride it over and over whenever they were hungry to get a "poison apple".

That is so cute! :)

I love this idea! I was looking for more stuff to order from vons too (to get to $50).

Thanks!

My girls are now grown and both are pregnant. But when we go with friends with kids they do the same thing. So the tradition lives on. :lmao: I said when the grand babies are born I want to be the one who grabs the apple.:rotfl:

I also use to go to garage sells and buy cheap costume jewelry. Or go get cheap rings and necklaces from the $1 store. When we went on Pirates and got to the treasure room with the skeletons my DH use to reach out with items hidden in his hand and place his hand in the water on the side of the boat and pull out the "pirate treasure". They each had a little box at home filled with the "stolen pirate treasure" from the ride...

We just got back from WDW with some friends with small children and did the apple and jewelry thing with the kids. There were 19 of us total and I bought a bunch of light up rings and cheap necklaces and gold pirate coins from the Oriental Trading Supply. I gave each adult a handful of stuff to hide and each child rode with one of them. At the same time we yelled, "Grab that treasure!" and reached in the water and came up with treasure. The kids all thought it was wonderful and wore the jewelry the rest of the trip. Only thing was that the kids wanted to go to the magic kingdom everyday so they could get more apples and treasure:scared1: I had bought enough stuff for several times on the ride but not twice a day for three weeks:rotfl2:

So fun about the pirate ride....I have been going my 40 years of life and this is the first time I have heard of such a fun idea - thanks much! Our 3 year old will love it for her Birthday trip in Oct (turning 3) and then our 14month old will catch on in a little while!
