I booked today!!!!

DH is Grumpy. Not just about disney, he is plain Grumpy all the time. Even when he is on cloud 9 you can still see Grumpy. Every year we do a family trip to the beach with college friends and their kids. I'm not really a beach person. I go but each time we book I ask if we can please consider Disney next time.

DH and I went to Disney the year after we got married. He loved it and said someday we'd take our kids (at the time I thought he was nuts because I thought I wasn't going to have children). We stayed at CSR and he said he liked it but wanted to do better with kids.

I have gone to Disney for many tradeshows and he has come 2 or 3 times. We stayed at the Dolphin and Grand Floridian on those trips.

Then came our cute dwarf #1. Total princess from day 1. There was not enough pink or princess in the world for this girl from day 1 until a few months ago.

cute dwarf #2 came 2.5 years after DD. He is a tiny lil bugger but very high energy. He had an accident at 18 months and knocked out 5 teeth. At 7 he still doesn't have them. But he has the greatest little smile anyway.

a few years ago I couldn't take it anymore and begged DH for Disney. We were going through a lot of transition (i had lost my job and finally got another) and he really didn't want to go. DS was also a big handful and well a mini Grumpy. So I convinced DH to let me take the princess for a mom/daughter budget trip. We stayed at All Star Movies with free dining and had frequent flyer points for flights. I promised DS to take him someday when he was bigger. He was 3 at the time and had no idea. He stayed with his "best friend Papa" those few days and figured he was the lucky one. DH was thrilled.

More beach trips each year. Last year I said no more beach until Disney. Didn't work. I'm not really good at standing ground with DH. I sorta go with the flow a lot.

For Christmas DH got me a small gc for Disney and said IF you can save the rest we will go but save enough for the beach too.

Well I saw the gc promo with Disney and kept thinking about it. But I wanted to do Sept (both DH&I and DD&I went in Sept with NO crowds) I knew I wanted to stay at Wilderness Lodge with the family but kept looking at pics and questioning, researching, etc. DH is a huge sports freak and loves ESPN zone when we are there. I swear he has a stool molded to his butt. So I was thinking BC/YC but wow, the cost and I really like the WL look. Haven't stayed there but went through it. I also really think the kids will like it and the pool there.

I've been sending DH emails with dates and prices. He either ignores it or freaks over the cost. No codes yet for Sept. I also really thought we wanted free dining so I could have it already budgeted. However since the change in DP it just doesn't seem to be good for us. First, DH likes to have a salad and entree and never eats dessert, EVER. I like apps and sometimes eat an app instead of an entree. I rarely eat desserts but once and awhile i do. However a week of entrees and desserts just wouldn't work for us. Plus I want to do a few character meals.

Well a few days ago DH said just book it and leave him alone about it! AND do it sooner than later so we get it over with!!!

Of course I feel guilty but I really really want to go and the cute dwarf 2 really is ready. He is 1/2 inch from being tall enough for space mountain! Yes, he is 7 and only 43.5 inches. Told ya'll he was a dwarf! no insult intended, keeping it in the disney theme.

Anyway DH has been overly Grumpy the last 2 days because of me questioning the Disney trip. So last night I decided to not even speak to him at all. Okay I know this sounds bad but he gets this way and the best way to handle the mood is to give him alone time. Time out for an adult.

He calls this am and says the beach is off and to book Disney, just tell be sure it is paid off before and tell him when to show up where!

I got my air miles in order and found good flights on SW. Oh yea, DH HATES to fly. I had enough miles to fly two of us on sw and 2 on usairways but he said no way, all on one. It is hard to coordinate 2 free tickets plus 2 cheap flights all together.

But guess what??? I DID IT!!!!

I booked our flights. I have a package on hold. AND i even got a few dining reservations.

We are going to Disney!!! End of April - begining of May. YAY. :cheer2:

The kids have heard us talk, was with DH when he got the gc and know how much I want to go back. But they are convinced it is sept. I really want to keep the secret a little while.

So now I gotta start working on their scrapbooks for autographs.

Trip is all booked and DS7 is beyond excited! it will be his first trip. Both kids know we are going but they think we are going in Sept instead of april/may. DS is very little we measure him daily in hopes he hits 44 inches. He is 43.25.

Tonight he had the bright idea to put on his sneakers and have me measure again. Lo and behold he is 44!!! YAY he can ride Space Mountain!

DH just rolls his eyes.

But i know there are many here who understands our little achievement.

:cheer2: YEAH!! Many of us appreciate such an achievement! Don't forget the cap trick---Put the cap on, and POOF it up! :rotfl:

Hi JeepGirl30!

Your first paragraph made me completely crack up - my DH is the same way - always serious and even when he should be happy he still seems grumpy!

Congrats on booking the trip! We just booked out first trip for August, I'm so excited I can't stand it! DH really doesn't care to hear about my planning either, so I'm doing it alone and writing my excitement in my PTR - I know others on here can relate! Great to hear that your son made the 44" mark! :cool1:

I'll be reading along to hear your plans!

OMG, Grumpy just decided to meassure the littlest dwarf and guess what??? He is 44 inches tall exactly with NO shoes! We did a nice round of high fives. I think he'll sleep with that smile tonight. He is so proud of all his 44 inches. Come on, at 7 it sure took him awhile to get there.

I've got most our ADRs but Grumpy subtly reminds me the Pens may be in the play offs so to build some flex time for ESPN zone.

First night - dinner at Ohana - want the kids to see the fireworks
2nd night - dinner at Chef Mickey's
Day 3 - lunch at Arkesus, dinner coral reef
Day 4 - lunch at Sci Fi dinner at Boma
Day 5 - lunch at Rainforest, dinner at kona cafe
Day 6 - breakfast at Chef Mickeys and depart

How did I do?

I'm so excited. Today is exactly 30 days to go. I wrote little notes for the kids and stuck in their backpacks. I told my DS when he got on the bus or had quiet time to check his folder because I put a note in it. His little eyes got huge and he had this scared look and said "why do i have a note?". I laughed and DD overhead and said "oh its a love note I probably got one too".

DH still refuses to talk about the trip but I've got the kids on my side. DS is super excited to do Jedi Training and make your own lightsaber. DD is excited to get Tink's autograph and ride Rock 'n Roller coaster. She was too little the first time around.

I'm just excited to see their precious little faces as they take it all in.

I've got ADRs booked but I'm sure I'll rethink them another million times in these next 30 days. I've got outfits planned in my head, clothes ordered for the kids and shoes eyed up. I have their autograph/scrapbooks about 70% complete.

Now I've got to do the touring plans. DD asked if I really had to plan every little detail. YES!

I've talked to so many friends that make comments about Disney being too expensive and how they hated waiting in all those lines and couldn't get into the restaurants they won't go back. Well with just a little planning their trip could have been so much better. I just don't get it. Of course I do need to keep in mind the kids are little and be a bit flexible. and Grumpy is grumpy so a little extra patience for him too. We'll be good!

WOW...you work fast! We have 23 more days...so we'll overlap a bit...looking forward to hearing your plans...

Aw it's so cool your kids are so excited! Don't let Grumpy get you down, it'll be fun regardless! :goodvibes:

So nice to have some replies! Thanks for reading.

It did remind me I have to call the doc and get Grumpy's meds for the flight. We flew to Vegas last year for my 40th and he was medicated, the flight was so much better that way. Since he won't have to drive I've decided it is the only way we can fly togther.

Back in the day, I used to book us and request seperate rows, like way far apart and then blame the airline for screwing up our seats. I love sleeping on a plane or reading, he freaks out and wakes me up. Thank godness for meds!

I'm going to close this one up. I think you've been or are there, so the pre-trip portion should be done! Let us know how it went. :thumbsup2
