We've got it! Wasn't it Claire who was headed to New York this week? She wanted some snow, she's gettin it.

Here in Virginia, they're forcasting 12-24 inches. It started snowing last night and we've got about five inches on the ground so far. I'm guessing the roads are pretty bad, as my newspaper hasn't shown up yet. The kids have already exceeded their snow day quota (5 days), so if they miss tomorrow then their spring break will be shortened. I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that they're going to miss tomorrow.

I'm ready for Spring!

The view this morning. DS built an igloo yesterday. We're having fun here. I can't see that the kids are going to school tomorrow either. Our street hasn't even seen a snowplow yet. Nobody is going anywhere.

I agree KayleeUK - but I think looking at it is more fun than experiencing it right now!

Thanks for the photo Olaf (from a snow-starved Brit LOL)

It looks beautiful, You lucky thing. I love snow but here in our part of Yorkshire, even though we are Northern Britain we're very sheltered & therefore get very little snow.

What is " your kids snow quota" sound intriging.

Have just waved off eldest DS for a weeks sking in Italy, so hopefully he'll be seeing snow

Hi Sue

I think what Olaf is referring to is the days off school children get in the USA when the weather is so bad the school is closed, some call them 'snow days'.

Looks like if they get to many they lose school holiday days!

He certainly will - best snow conditions across Europe for several years.

Yep, that's it. We have five days built into the schedule. The kids miss anymore days, they'll have to be made up by cutting into their holidays. :(

The kids in our area have a make-up day tomorrow because they've already missed so much school b/c of snow. Tomorrow is supposed to be a Holiday. Seems like it still will be a Holiday as schools are closed again tomorrow due to snow/ice!!!

I'M SICK OF THIS! Take me to Florida :)

We just drove 2 hours to get home in this mess. It's so good to be home ... safely :)

Aloha,
Lorraine

My chap Nic would go wild if he saw that snow.

Do you know if snow is likely in NY at christmas time?

Steph,

Do me a BIG favour and send some over here please!

Oh Bonzo, you don't want it--believe me! I've been shoveling for a few hours now. Finally got the drive cleared. Time for the Motrin.

Motrin is the brand name for Ibuprofen, something to soothe me poor achey muscles. :p

They cancelled school again for tomorrow, and DH doesn't have to go into work as well. So we get an extra long weekend.

Took some more pics. I'll post them.

Yes do post some pics, and keep safe and warm there in that crazy weather!

Hope all these extra school days to be made-up don't eat into precious family vacation time :(

Steph,
Yes we saw snow on the ground in NYC, what a city, and a few flakes on the way to the airport but there was more to come!! Once at the airport Virgin Atlantic wanted to get us out quick and put us on standby for an earlier flight so we had to wait with all our luggage until 45 minutes before the earlier flights departure to be told we were on it and upgraded!! Anyway made it to the gate in time to find my seat was double booked. The kind lady in my seat offered to give it up if she could stay in Premium Economy (business class) as we were a couple. As it was this lady then to her delight got upgraded to Upper Class and I sat with DH. After half an hour the snow was coming down quicker so the plane started to snow and ice up, have some digital pictures that I will attempt to download. Now we had been on the tarmac for 3 hours and hadn't moved there was a foot of snow on the wing and we had to wait to be de-iced!! By now alot of passengers wanted to get off the plane and go the following day. Then we found out there was more of a delay as the runway had to be cleared and flights from DC were being diverted here. After the first de-ice the plane had to be de-iced a second time as we had started to get bad again. Finally five and a half hours after our due departure time we took off. After a flight time of five hours and 50 minutes we landed safely at Heathrow.
Take care out in the snow.
Claire :D

Love them pics:teeth: :teeth:
