Snow, Snow Shower - what's the difference?

Does anyone know when speaking of weather forecasts what snow and snow shower means? Which is heavier or longer or worse?

snow showers are like rain showers.. on and off all day... snow is snow.. just snow lots of snow. snow showers dont usually give you a high accumulation.
