Did anyone check out the long term forecast for next Friday and Saturday just in time for March break travel. For Mississauga they are forecasting 30 - 40 cm on friday and 15 - 20 cm on Saturday. Holy cow man that could be a big mess!

I'm flying out of Detroit on friday at 5:00PM and was planning on leaving friday morning but may have to do the hotel park and fly deal now and go down on Thursday. Let's hope this storm changes course this week!

Lets see.... I remember 3 instances this winter when they were calling for at least 15 cms of snow and we were lucky to get half that. They can't predict tomorrows weather with any accuracy let alone 5-6 days from now. Hope they are wrong again for you. Just my take from someone who lives in SW Ontario.

The Force is strong in this one.

Not good news, we are flying out on Sat., from Syracuse, and the Americans in northern New York are crazy! They shut down the roads for 5 cm. of snow!! I don't know what they have against plowing. :confused3

Hey us too flying Jetblue Saturday from Syracuse. We are planning on getting to Syracuse by noon on Friday. Weather in Syracuse is looking great, for Friday and Saturday. I prefer to watch the US sights they always get a better prospective on weather there.

Don't count on the forecasters being accurate for next Friday.
They can't forecast whats going to happen tomorrow never mind 6 days from now.:goodvibes

Yeah I saw the forcast. Of coarse it will pound down. Were heading to Great Wolf Lodge on Friday morning coming back saturday afternoon. Not looking forward to the drive.

As I recall, the last major DUMP we got was early December and we were going to GWL also and decided to drive a day early and stay in a cheap hotel and I am glad we did as we never would have made it the following day asd we did get 30cm!

If I were you, I would go to Detroit a day early! Honestly, I'd even watch the system and if it is imenent and within your flying times, I would try to switch the flight and go a day early! We leave Tuesday morning but if I thought there was the slightest chance we wouldn't make it, I would do ANYTHING to ensure Iget out! That's how sick I am of this weather!!

BTW, for those going to GWL, not sure how booked they are for March break but when we werew there for the last snow event, they offered us a second night for $129!! We had plans and couldn't stay but might be worth packing a bit extra if you could stay if they offer!

We are flying out of Detroit too on Friday at 1:45ish

We decided to drive down on Thursday after work just to make sure we made it if there was snow!! The amounts are down to 5 to 10cm for Guelph and windsor for Friday - we were supposed to get 10 to 15cm this Friday, Sunday and tomorrow this week and we didn't get that much Friday and today is just going to be freezing rain. Wouldn't worry about the weather until they get closer to thursday/Friday!

DARN, DARN, DARN.

I hope the forecasters are wrong.

If anything, let it start Sunday afternoon (after our plane is off the ground)! :lmao:

They are NOT predicting any storms for next Friday...I work at a TV station in S. Ontario and I can tell you for certain that they could never predict a storm of that magnitude more than 3 days out. If anything, we may see a significant ice/snow event Tuesday / Wednesday of this week...

If anyone is interested in the technical weather jargon here it is...

A MAJOR COMPLEX LOW GETS GOING IN THE LOWER MIDWEST AND LIFTS NORTHWARD TOWARD OUR REGION DURING TUES AND TUES NT. WE WILL ALL GET A SHOT OF RAIN SHOWERS MON NT WITH MUCH COLDER AIR CHANGING THE PRECIP OVER TO SNOW DURING THE OVERNIGHT AND VERY EARLY TUESDAY MORNING HOURS. MODELS HAVE BEEN AT ODDS SOMEWHAT ON PATH OF STORM...BUT CONSENSUS WOULD TAKE THE LOW FROM TENN
VALLEY NORTH TO OHIO AND THEN SLOWS IT DOWN AS UPPER LOW DIGS INTO CUTOFF OVER TENN/KY AND THE LOW ENCOUNTERS UPPER LEVEL CONFLUENCE FURTHER NORTH. THIS PATH WOULD CERTAINLY ALLOW WARM AIR TO MOVE IN ALOFT EASILY...AND ADDING TO THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ICY STORM IS THE LOCATION OF THE FRIGID HIGH PRESSURE CENTER OVER SOUTHERN QUEBEC. MODELS ARE VERY RELUCTANT TO MOVE THIS COLD DOME ANY FARTHER EAST THAN THE GULF OF SAINT LAWRENCE UNTIL WEDNESDAY MORNING...DURING WHICH THE SURFACE LOW WILL BE DRAWING VERY COLD AIR ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA ON NORTHEAST WINDS AND WARMER AIR ALOFT FROM THE EAST AND SOUTHEAST...A CLASSIC ICY STORM PATTERN. THE LATEST MODEL RUN TRACKS THE SURFACE LOW MORE OVER ACROSS CENTRAL NY TUESDAY NIGHT COMPARED TO THE TRACK OVER SOUTHEASTERN NY...A VERY STRONG INDICATION OF WIDESPREAD FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET ON THE FORECAST PROFILES WITH SUBFREEZING SURFACE TEMPS AND BOUNDARY LAYER TEMPS MAXING OUT NEAR +10C ACROSS THE REGION. ALTERNATIVELY...IF THE GFS MODEL TREND CONTINUES TO THE SOUTHEAST OF THE REGION...THIS COULD TURN OUT TO BE A VERY SIGNIFICANT SNOW EVENT FOR OUR AREA. BUT THERE IS STILL UNCERTAINTY OF THE EXACT TRACK OF THE SURFACE LOW.

Hi Siohean 1997! We are flying out 6:15 am and should arrive in Orlando at 10:50am. How about you? We are going to stay at Best Western Express in Syracuse. We're on U.S. Airway. How many hours are you checking into the airport beforehand?? :cheer2:

Hey Cdn Gal, we are on the 9:15 am direct flight due to arrive in Orlando at noon. We are flying Jetblue, but are staying on the park and fly rate of $105.00 at the Holiday Inn Liverpool as we need to stay parked for 21 days, and for that rate they keep it for that long. The first year we flew out from Syracuse we did a 6 am flight, we arrived at the airport at 4 am, felt like fools no one there except cleaning staff. Even the check in counter was not open. So know we usually arrive 90 minutes before our flight, but thats only because we fly out at 9 am . Try and bring some muffins or something for breakfast as there is nothing open that early at the Syracuse Airport.

This is an example of how things can change.....even although the last "weather - storm - alert".....was only a short few hours ago.
These people really are totally useless:goodvibes
What a great job....To forecast the weather....get it wrong....then move on to the next day. Must be nice to be paid to be wrong constantly:lmao:

Thanks Siobhan for the great advice. I thought that perhaps we would arrive at 4:30am. The ticket agent would have to be open then wouldn't it? Don't they need to check out bags and stuff? I'll bring along some muffins too like you suggested. Thanks again! :goodvibes
