Snow for Long Island??

Fraggle, take a boat to my house and then we'll put on snow shoes and go to the bar!!!

I'm in the Pt Jeff area & it is still POURING at 7:30....wonder if we will see any of the white stuff :confused3

Sounds like a plan! :rotfl: I made a big dinner for the boys to tide them over in case they are out plowing all night. I told them at this rate they should just use my boat to go help people, they'd be better off. They did bring me a bottle of wine though...clearly they know they're audience!

It's 7:30 and still down pouring in Northport. I hope it stays that way!

ohhhh Skippers!:thumbsup2

Still pouring here too. My husband is wondering if he needs to put the plow on at all.

E. Patchogue over here and it's the same as you - raining. But it looks like the snow is coming our way if it's already snowing in Nassau. I'd rather take this rain than the snow :headache:

Well not raining anymore. Gotta love the 5:00A no school call.:surfweb: Plow is on and husband and son are long gone. Is it really going to snow through Sunday?

Well of course the island is closed except for Stony Brook. I think im making the safe decision and not going to school. I don't feel safe driving there on hilly windy roads for just one class. It might not be as bad at Stony Brook right now, but I don't think they understand that kids commute there, and its not always easy.

Stony Brook is very bad now. You made a wise decision. Huntington just declared a state of emergency - no vehicles except emergency permitted on the roads.
My husband has been out since 5A - said the roads are treacherous.

Thanks. I woke up from texts from my friends who plow telling me how bad the roads are also. I honestly don't understand why Stony Brook doesn't consider that there are commuters coming in from all over. And they expect me on the roads in a state of emergency? Sorry, my safety isn't worth one class.

ETA: Just got a text - all classes now canceled! Took them long enough.

Channel 4 just reported that we are going to see the worst of it later today, very high winds, and a few flurries tomorrow but not really any accumulation.

Can't believe that I went to bed with the rain STILL coming down and when the phone rang this morning at 6 am (no school here in Wading River) there was a bunch of snow!

Glad the office finally called at 8:30 (as if I was going!)

I never got this many snow days as a kid!

Whew! I'm glad that's over :yay:

DH and I went upstate to Cooperstown. The drive wasn't too bad and the thru-way and I88 were clear even though it was snowing. By Exit 19 there was hardly any snow at all, but then after we past Exit 21, it started again and we hit a white-out. It snowed the whole weekend and their snow is going until Thursday :scared1:. Once we got back towards NYC yesterday the snow looked like it was already starting to melt :yay:.

Boy am I glad Spring is right around the corner (let's hope March goes out like a lamb and we have NO MORE SNOW).

It was so bad in NYC that my company closed! Luckily, I didn't even try to get in (we didn't get plowed until 2 or 2:30), but some people did.

And it might not be over yet.....I hear it may snow Tues./Wed.

DH was watching the news on channel 4 this morning. Looks like it will be a mix of rain and light snow, but nothing that would accumulate. Channel 4's forcast went into next Monday and they are already showing 51 and 54 degrees for Sunday and Monday :woohoo: :cool1: FINALLY, Spring is around the corner!!!!
