but I think we're the only school in southern Worcester county not sending the kids in. Thought we'd have early dismissial but dont know why they arent at least making today count.
Oh well - so how is it out there? It's still dark out.

It's lovely shades of white around here in NJ! Yay!

Well now that it's light out I can definately see the snow is coming down heavy. Good luck driving everyone.
Hopefully the drive home tonight wont be too bad.

the white stuff is coming down and it is suppose to into intensify as the day goes on. :D

well it is a snow day for us here on the south shore. It is coming down at a pretty good rate.

Snow day here as well.....kids are soooooo happy, NO SCHOOL! Have a good day everyone, and if you have to go out, drive careful.

LOL...Not even a delayed opening! LOL

Autochick, where on the south shore are you? I live near Brockton/Bridgewater and we have not had any snow days this year. This doesn't surprise me because this is our 6th winter living in MA and at least 3 of those winters so far, my DSs had no snow days, so we're used to waking up to snow and still having school.

I think giving credit to the people who drive the snow plows and sanding trucks is due! :p

No snow day for DD.

SeaSpray, we live in the same area and our school never closes either. Although DD is pretty happy they are going today. She's an odd one :)

We have a snow day too!:bounce: Can't wait to go and play in it, I have 8 kids here- so will want to be out most of the day!

Snow day for our DD in our town in NJ about 30 miles west of New York City. She had a big test today so she's very happy.....more prep time!;)

Yes, it's a very snowy day! I wonder how many moer of these we are going to get?

It's a snow day here in S.E. PA, too. :)

Why is it that when there's a snow day, the kids are up even earlier than normal and wide awake?

Has anyone heard of this? On the night before snow is predicted, all the girls in DD's fourth grade wear their pajamas inside out and backwards and do a 'snow' dance before bedtime.
In their minds, this is bringing good luck for a snow day :p . It's kinda cute and, today, it worked! Now they'll never stop doing it!:o

OMG, yes! The kids did that last night (I didn't see the dance, but I'll bet they did it when I wasn't looking) - too funny! :)

CookieGVB,
Think it's a Jersey thing? I wonder if girls anywhere else do this.
P.S. It's definitely a girl thing...... the boys think they're nuts!

Well, DS14 just came home, early dismissal!!! And I just got an email from DS11's principal, letting us know that they will have an early dismissal too. 1:30pm, only an hour earlier than the regular dismissal time of 2:30pm.

So far, this is the ONLY time that snow has effected their school days this year!

By the way, it really is a blizzard out there! I cannot believe how much snow has fallen since this morning! DH is going to have to rev up the snowblower when he gets home. :p

The DC area is ridiculous! We had maybe 6 inches of snow, but it’s light & fluffy and the roads are completely clear. But pretty much all the schools in the metropolitan area are closed. I’m at work and lots of people are out today. I just don’t get it. People who get snow all the time seem to manage to go on with their lives – I don’t know why we can’t.

Pugsly, I think you hit the nail on the head with your comment about people who get snow often, have no trouble going on with their lives!

I know that here, once the first few flakes start to fall, there are plows, sand trucks, salt trucks, etc out on the roads, preparing them and making them as safe as possible.

Like I said in a previous post, this our 6th winter here, and I think this is actually the 4th (but not in a 4 in a row) winter without ANY snow days.

Actually my sons don't mind because this way, they get out sooner in June. :)

P.S. Stay safe down there, I think it's worse to be around drivers who aren't used to driving in the snow!

We have whiteout conditions here right now.

I'm a little concerned about the drive home tonight. It took me over an hour to get to work this morning, and this evening is supposed to be much worse.
They do not plow 295 very well and it's very hilly and I have my car today instead of DH's :(

It started snowing here last night at 7PM, and finished up before we all awoke this morning. We got a total of 8 inches...school was cancelled about 9:30 last night!
