I grew up in Baltimore-- and there were snow cone stand everywhere. We used to go out for a snow cone like others go out for ice cream on a Friday night.
We have a Rival machine from Walmart that I bought last season. It was about 25.00 on clearance (end of summer). I know they have a cheaper model...but this one is the next level up and it works well for the "hot afternoon of neighborhood kids running through the house" which is how we use it. It has a slushie and snow cone mode and we use the walmart syrups just fine.
