Yep, here in sw Michigan they are already putting up warnings and watches saying to expect blizzard like conditions late Wed and Thurs. Weather people are saying to expect school closures on Thurs. We are supposed to get lake effect snow too. Kids are looking forward to playing in the snow. Its pitifull what they are trying to build a snow igloo with now.

Whereabouts are you in SW Michigan? I live in Battle Creek. If they close School on Thursday I won't be too upset but I hope they don't cancel on Friday my kids have a Christmas program scheduled for Friday afternoon. Last year they ahd to cancel the program so I haven't seen my daughter perform in a Christmas program yet and she is soo excited (1st grade)

Yep 14" on its way here in southern WI! Already snowing out....we have a winter weather warning out until thursday and they are advising not to be on the roads tue,wed, and thur unless absolutely neccessary.

Hi Neighbor....15" coming here too in the burbs of Milwaukee! (My in-laws are in Beloit) I hope they will be OK with snowblowing and shoveling

We have about 2" so far but tiny, tiny flakes so it could be worse. They just extended the blizzard warning to about 30 miles south of us so MAYBE we will even get a blizzard out of the deal. I came home at about 1:30 today and 35E already had some drifts because the snow is so light and the wind is picking up. I guess after 9 is when it is supposed to get really bad here.

We've got about 2-3" so far down here, too. The weather station here is saying that the storm is building strength, though. Looks like we may be in for some freezing rain as the temps warm up on top of all this snow.. still crossing my fingers I can make it home from work tonight at midnight. Otherwise it could be an interesting night.

Unfortunately we have to be at the middle school tonight for a concert, so we can't go driving. We were really hoping for the first big snow on a weekend, but as usual mother nature doesn't care LOL.
Lovin' that -3 forecasted for Thursday too, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Howdy neighbors! Saugatuck area checking in We're right on the lake and got a good snow last week- hated scraping the car over the weekend It's my last week of class before finals so we can't afford to cancel... this should be interesting

So far, yes! I'm guessing if they haven't cancelled yet, they won't. My dh will be lucky to make it home in time, traffic is horrid!!!!!!!!!!! 101 up here is slick, I watched the pickup in front of me, going 50 in a 65, without touching his brakes, almost lose control of his truck. He recovered after a few times of sliding in each direction. Scared the bejeesus out of me, as I was driving behind him.

When I came home at 1:30 the intersections were pretty slippery but the freeways were fine, drifting though. The snow here is so small and fine that I can see how the roads are going to be a nightmare.

I don't know what conditions the freeways are in, since I didn't take one, but I saw the traffic reports, and they are barely moving!! 101 blows over so much, those little teeny flakes leave a nice icy glaze on it when it blows over the top. They just said on Kare 11, the storm is just revving up and will get worse as the night goes on. Yuck yuck and did I mention, yuck??

I'm sure there will be lots of accidents tonight! When I picked dd16 up from school, there was one and potentially could have been 2 more just getting into the school lot.

One kid was pulling out of the drive and ran right into the back of the suv in front of him and landed up on the curb with his front end all smashed in..
Then another kid blew thru the yield sign coming out of the parking area and almost side swiped another kid who was coming down the main drive and then the pickup in front of me pulled out of the parking area really fast and fish tailed all the way down the drive.

Most of the kids were laughing (except the one who smashed his car..he wasn't .) they thought it was so funny...our school parking lot is nuts on a good day..I told dd16 if she drives to school after it snows, she has to wait for the lot to clear out before she leaves...those kids are way too reckless.

Well I guess this storm is supposed to roll into the east sometime tomorrow - in the wee hours of the morning.. (At least I think it's the same storm system..) Doesn't look like we're in for too much trouble though - we're right on the border of 2 to 4 inches or 4 to 8 inches.. It's supposed to turn to rain later in the day though, so I think we're going to "dodge the bullet"..

I just looked at the traffic cams from WCCO and the highways look like parking lots. I am so glad I came home early. I take surface streets to work so they aren't all that bad even in the worst weather.

We tell DS the same thing, just wait 5 extra minutes and the lot will be empty--which now that his very social younger sister is in high school it is at LEAST 5 minutes to get her away from all of her friends

No school again tomorrow. I don't know how much snow we've gotten so far, at least 6 inches probably more. The winds are suppose to pick up and blow it around all night. I learned the bad thing about snow days and older kids. I came up from working out (in the basement) and the brownies were done and the cookie dough was chilling in the fridge! Why did I work out?

UGH, first day driving in heavy snow, and DS got major stuck and the end of the driveway. We shoveled behind his tires, still stuck. Finally I was able to get in and rock the car enough to barrel it out into the street, where it got stuck again till I pushed him out. Oh my, now he has to go pick up his friends in the next neighborhood and I am afraid he's going to get stuck again. Ack, I am sick with worry!!! I hate winter.

Yeah, not even 2 hours late. He just texted me he's there, now I can at least breathe. Clearly you guys have it much worse than we do up here. But there is are drifts 8-10 inches high on my driveway and at the bottom.
