I am trying to decide if I should bring my gear. This is the resort we are doing, anyone have any input as to how the snorkeling is there just from the beach? I checked the areas that all the "best of" lists have for snorkeling in Bermuda and none are near Elbow Beach.

We went to Horeshoe Bay last October off the cruise. The far side of the beach away from the entrances are coves with rocks. There were a lot of folks snorkeling over there.

Fish are found near coral reels or rocks. They like places to hide.

I don’t know much about Elbow Beach.

Thank you for those beautiful pictures! I could find info about Horseshoe as it is probably the most popular beach there but that's about 6 miles away and since I couldnt find any pattern to where "the best snorkeling" beaches were I didnt know if that information would be applicable. I like snorkeling but Im probably the only one in our group that would do it so I dont feel any special need to seek it out but if there is decent opportunity where I am already going then I will bring my gear. If there isnt Id rather have the luggage space though. ;)

The pictures above are amazing! I have been to Bermuda several times. It has been awhile, but I don't believe I have seen snorkeling at Elbow (stayed there for my honeymoon, many "moons" ago!). Horseshoe, on the other hand had many snorkeling. At the time, I believe, you could rent equipment there, so no need to being. Hopefully someone will chime in that has been more recently, Horseshoe is gorgeous! Have a great cruise!

Elbow beach is very good snorkeling. There is a decent reef within swimming distance. Not for beginners, but fine for intermediate. No big waves, not near rocks, so no risk of getting pushed into rocks. We snorkeled there 2x in 2015. Liked it much better than horseshoe. Likely fairly deserted we only had a handful of people in August.

Snorkel park has a lot of small fish on the left side of the beach if you want to stay close to the ship.
