Snorkeling excursions?

I apologize in advance if this has been asked before, but as I'm new to this forum, I'm not real familiar with it yet.

Anyway, I'll be taking my second cruise in just a couple of weeks (3-night Wonder). On my first, we really didn't do any organized shore excursions. This time, I thought I'd give snorkeling a shot.

Unfortunately, there are FOUR different snorkeling excursions...2 in Nassau, 2 at Castaway Cay. Anyone have any advice as to which are worth my time and $$?

Hmm, not really sure but someone will know, i understand that the water gets quite stirred up on cc if you are doing the off beach snorkelling but not sure about the others, i bet it will be great whatever you do, let me know we are making plans for october.

Thanks, traycie.

I'd heard, too, about the water getting a bit mucky at CC. Was hoping to hear from someone who had done the catamaran/snorkeling excursion in either Nassau or CC, though.

I'm debating whether to go snorkeling (and get a massage) or stay an extra day in Orlando (it'll cost about the same for either), but I haven't been able to find anyone who has done any of the snorkeling excursions to tell me whether it's worth it.

I'll let you know if I hear anything else, though!

My family and I went on a cruise in October of 2003. My little brother (15) and I (29) went on the seahorse snorkel adventure at Castaway Cay. I believe it was $48 pp...though that may have changed. We had a great time!! The water where we got to swim was crystal clear and beautiful. We saw so many color fish and a couple sting rays. Neither of us had ever been snorkeling before and did okay! I would highly recommend it!

We did the catamaran sail and snorkel and loved it! It is a pretty quick trip to the cat. They provide snorkel equipment and beverages. If you have your own mask, you might want to bring it. My family all had trouble keeping them on tight. We are pretty much beginners, so holding it to our faces and floating worked well for us.

Don't be shy when it comes to getting in the water first. We were trying to be polite and ended up missing about 10-15 min. You only get to snorkel for about 45-60 min.

Timewise it was great. We got back to the ship for a buffet lunch. around 1. We got cleaned up and headed into Nassau for a few hours.

I thought it was definitely worth the money and would do it again.

As for CC, this past time we got off the ship early and were the first ones in the water to snorkel. It was very nice.

I liked the snorkeling better in Nassau though.

have fun! Lorie
