Quick question -
If you rent snoreking equipment on CC is the mouth piece new or do they just clean it. In a Norwalk environemnnt I'd think they'd replace but I want to verify.

Otherwise its off to Sports Authority to buy my own!

I'm pretty sure they just clean them using standard sanitization procedures.

If you want a mouthpiece that has only touched your mouth you should bring your own. :)

I believe they rinse all equipment in some kind of sanitizing solution. Dh and I rented snorkeling equipment at CC on our cruise last May. Both our masks leaked horribly -- definitely not worth the $25 we each paid! We decided right then that we're going to buy and bring our own for our next cruises. With the outbreak of the Norwalk virus we definitely will feel more comfortable with our own equipment. HTH

It was totally worth it to bring our own masks and snorkels, both because they were higher quality, and because I had rigged my mask to hold a pair of glasses - so I could actually SEE underwater! The extra safety re: Norwalk was just a bonus from our point of view.

FYI: You can rent just fins on CC for $9 a pair, which doesn't seem to be advertised on the information sheet for CC shore excursions. In fact, when we asked Guest Services aboard the Magic about renting fins (the Shore Excusion desk was closed), they told us we couldn't rent fins separately. Though we brought our own masks and snorkels, we couldn't really justify buying and bringing fins all the way from home. But it sure makes snorkeling a lot easier, and I'm glad they were available on CC!
