SNL Season Premiere

There are reports that some of the SNL writers may not be participating in the show as a protest to Chappelle.

It is thought that all of the Cast will be participating including Non-Binary Cast Member Molly Kearney.

Expecting a large viewership tonight.

Wow-I shouldn't be surprised that Chappelle went where he did in his monologue, but I was.

Thought the show was "OK"-House of Dragons was really funny.

Also found it "interesting" that with Chappelle hosting,Non-Binary Cast Member Molly Kearney was featured in their own piece.

The House of Dragons was so similar to bit they did last time with Chapelle's characters and Walking Dead. Thought that one was funnier but this one was funny. I was more surprised how long his monologue was .than the actual topics.

I think that people who do actual stand-up seem to get longer monologues if they want them. Chapelle's was longer than usual the last time he hosted. John Mulaney also had longer monologues.

I made the observation to my husband that it seemed like when comedians go on SNL they do more of a mini comedy special/show whether that's because they are given more time IDK but they at least seem to do that at a higher percentage than those who do longer opening stuff but aren't classified as a comedian/stand up.

We were not surprised with his topics though although I felt it was tamed down than what I thought it could be.

I thought that was one of the stronger episodes this season, even the skits after Weekend Update were decent. They usually are terrible.

From what I could tell, I'm not sure the writers were participating in the previous episodes.:duck:

Dave was good but the shocking thing was...He didn't smoke!

You must have missed some of it!

Yeah, I beleive he did smoke at some point.

The thing with Dave's monologue, and you can agree with him or not and you can like him or not, but it is designed to make you think. Yes, what he is saying is provocative, but there is a point to it. It is up to an individual to decide how well he is actually making it.

The rest of the show was pretty funny though overall. Update still needs to move away from the predictible formula of unfunny side-guests. I really liked the one with Mikey Day subbed in for Dave - talk about uncomfortable!

I didn't see all of it, but it definitely seemed like a Chapelle special with skits.

Now that Cecily is back I would love to see Girl you wish you hadn't started a conversation with at a party.

I do think Sarah Sherman is funny in the way she teases Colin.

See, I hated that Sarah Sherman bit - just not my thing. I did like Moynihan doing Drunk Uncle a few weeks ago, but I wish he had done my favorite character of his, Riblet!

Well I watched the opening monologue and then let it run while I was doing other things. It's on the DVR, I'm going to watch the whole thing again. :happytv:

After watching last night's SNL,it is official.

SNL is on Life Support.

I happened to switch to the local NBC channel after watching something on Netflix and caught several skits. Wow, they were not even remotely funny. Something about a woman going in for an ultrasound and then another one about auditioning for a musical? They were so lame. My son walks by and is amused by the fact that I'm watching SNL. I remarked on how stupid these skits were and he said they've always been stupid. Yes, but they used to be funny and stupid :rotfl2:
