Hey Dis'ers. I wanted to give a shout out to the race I just ran this past weekend. The Snickers/Albany Marathon (and Half) is in Albany, GA and is usually the first Saturday in March every year. It's a Boston Qualifier and the course is flat and fast. I'm from Albany and live just outside it still so I've been doing this race for a few years now. I did my first half there 2 years ago and did the half again last year. This year I attempted the full and I'm proud to say I ran my first sub 4 hour marathon this weekend, but this thread isn't about me :rolleyes1 I wanted to say that the race has progressively gotten better each year and they do such a great job. The volunteers are outstanding and the race has become so well organized. I know some of the people who put this race on each year and I'm just blown away with what they do for this race. It's a well run, fun race that I encourage any runner to look into if it works for your schedule. The weather in Albany that time of year is much like Marathon Weekend. It could be cold and wet or it could be hot and sticky. You just never know. 2 years ago I ran the half with torrential rains and tornado sirens through the first few miles. Last year temps were near freezing for the entire race. This weekend was absolutely perfect. Starting temps in the mid 40's. Temps in the high 50's by race end.

Congrats!! :cheer2:
A sub 4 hour time is incredible in my eyes. IF I have ever run a marathon again, I would be ecstatic with a sub 6 hour time! :lmao:

It sounds like a fun race. Too bad I am too far away for that one!

Thank you! I definitely encourage people to do this one. It caps out at 2000 runners so it's not too big, but it's big enough there are people on the course with you so you don't get that "running all by yourself" feeling like I do at some of the half marathons in this area that I run. I was really impressed how good of a job they did with the volunteers and everything. It definitely doesn't have the course entertainment that a Disney race does, but few races do, but the quality of the overall race was worth it to me. Maybe I'm partial because this is my town, but it was really cool running some of the areas I've run hundreds of times before but sharing it with 2000 other runners.
