DH and I are going to BWI end of Feb.
I hear that the slide at stormalong is under referb.
Now I know you are not supposed to pool hop, but since YC/BC are being encouraged to use BW pool, will we be able to go over to stormalong? I am envisioning WAY too many kids at BW pool!
Plus I would love to go check out stormalong. (we don't care for slides anyway)
Has anyone been sneaky and pool hopped anyway? How strict are they really?
There has to be at least 1 rebel out there!:smooth:

this subject has been gone over recently, if you can use something that youre not paying for and live with it, then do it, but i dont think its fair to the people who do pay for that item youre using for free

They regularly check room IDs at SAB and issue wristbands. No BC/YC/BCV room ID, no SAB.

Oh, I wouldn't do this on a normal basis! I have way too big of a conscience, but I know there has to be someone who's done this!
However, I just think that it would be FAIR for those staying at BW to be able to head over to BC/YC if BW is crowded. Since they have the perk of going to BW, I think I should have the perk of going to a less crowded pool, besides the boring quiet pool.

It sounds like you've already made up your mind to do it so if you're waiting to hear someone else will do it so you'll feel better then I guess I'm not the poster for you. I personally would not do b/c I don't think its fair. But if BW pool is mobbed with kids, why not just ask hotel guest services if its okay to use SAB? They might surprise you.

I bet they would let you under these circumstances!!! If they are sending people over to use your pool I dont see why they wouldnt let you use SAB. I dont think you will need to be sneaky just ask at check in and tell them why you want to go over there and I bet you will be given the ok!

If this something you want to do I would definately ask someone to get permission. They are very aggressive about checking wristbands and asking people to leave without them. When we were there we saw several people have to get up and leave.

The BWI quiet pool is never crowded, and seldom has kids in it. If that's what you are worried about, use the quiet pool.

Although it sounds like you are just looking for an excuse to use SAB. If you want it so bad, why not just change your reservation to the BC or YC?

Anne

We usually stay at YC or BC and I've never been in Stormalong Bay without them checking wristbands. I doubt very seriously if you could get by with it.

As far as it being fair...I don't know. I can see both sides.

If you would like to use SAB then you should stay at the BC/YC. I don't think the slide at the BW would make anyone want to leave SAB.

I think it is only fair that if BC/YC guests can use the BWI pool that BWi guests be able to use BC/YC. This is obviously a special circumstance but seems fair to me, but you should definitely ask a cm anyway but I feel you would have a compelling arguement for using SAB because of the situation.

My 2 cents

I don't see how you can sneak in to Stormalong Bay. It is all fenced in, and there is a cast member at the entrance checking id's and issuing wrist bands.

I agree with 10Drum. We've been to both pools, and would never leave SAB to go to Luna Pool. I don't think it will impact the crowding at BWV. The slide is fun, but just a tiny part of the SAB. Diana

Hi, well wow thanks for the oppinions!
I honestly did not mean to upset anyone, I was just being a bit facetious. It was meant as a little tongue and cheek, but also seriously, because I actually do think it would be fair. But if they don't want me to use their pool, no big deal I'd like to check it out, but if it has to wait until next time then I'll live.;)
I just wanted to see if someone had tried this.
I had NO idea disney was SO anal about this! If I'd known I would've never asked in the first place. Plus, I did read in a review of BW somewhere that the reviewer had gone and used SAB during his or her stay and they actually listed SAB as a perk of staying at BW! It wasn't until reading this board this week that I found out about no pool hopping, and SAB refurb. But again I didn't know anything about checking wristbands! So I couldn't change my reservation to YC/BC if I wanted to, we are only able to stay at BW because of the codes that have expired.
But thanks to those who gave options, I think I will ask a CM, if the BW pool is busy, if they are allowing guests at BW to go to SAB.

23 days to go!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

In my opinion, a person paying anywhere from $250 to $550 a night (depending on room and season) to stay at the BWI, an EPCOT resort, around Cresent Lake, on the Disney property, putting thousands of dollars into Disney's coffers, has every right to use any pool, restaurant, bar, club, or health club at the BW, YC and BC. The only difference is there is an explicit cost of the restaurants, bars, clubs, or health facilities. The pools do not have an explicit cost, but the cost of entry is included in your room rates.

Use something you're not paying for and live with it? Look at your credit card bill when you leave the Disney property. You paid for it. I really would be surprise to see a Disney CM refuse entry to a paying guest at one of the EPCOT Deluxe resorts.

Tigerkeit, I'd love to hear if they were "anal," or instead welcomed you as a treasured guest.

Disney frowns on pool-hopping now because it became such an issue in the past. Some resorts have signs up indicating the pool is for the use of resort guests only. SAB is considered the best pool at Disney, but so many people began pool-hopping to it, that the guests at YC/BC couldn't get it to use their own resort pool.

So YC/BC instituted wristbands at SAB. You must show your room key identifying you as a YC/BC guest to get a wristband and you need the wristband on to enter SAB pool area. No wristband -- you'll probably be asked to leave.

SAB is currently reserved for guests of the YC, BC or BCV only.

Not to start a debate, but what you pay for is the room and use of recreational facilities at the resort you are staying at. If you want to use SAB, book at room at the YC/BC. I've stayed at the BC and it was an incredibly magical vacation.

People PLEASE DONT ATTACK THIS LADY BECAUSE SHE WANTS TO TRY A POOL OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe how some people are responding to this lady! She wants to try the pool out for a little while, not 24 hours a day for her whole vacation.

To the person who started this post, go the front desk at your hotel or at the YC and ask!

So since a slide isn't open, all the resort guests at the YC/BC get to go over to the BW? Well its only PRACTICAL and FAIR for the Boardwalk people to do the same!

It's a vacation after all people, have fun, live life.

Mike

I don't have a problem with the situation you are asking about, and think you might even get a good response from Guest Services, but I can tell you that they are incredibly anal :) Even on one of the slowest days in september, when there were about 3 people at SAB, they checked our IDs.

To add on to my other post,

I wanted to let you all know that I do agree that when the slide re-opens that the SB should be for YC/BC visitors only. Two years ago before I knew about message boards for Disney, etc... I was down at the Dolphin with my family and would walk past Stormalong Bay. We hadn't previously been to Disney for a while before that, and we though (wrongly) that you could pool hop still. We did visit Stormalong Bay twice for maybe an hour each time without any problem. Only last year did I find out that you could not pool hop, and on our return visit to the Dolphin we did not use Stormalong Bay. It did stink walking past it though, lol. You see we were staying at the Dolphin which usually is expensive, but since my father and sister were teachers we used the great $99 rate. Normally we would never be able to stay at a Deluxe, but in this situation we were able to. So it was great to try out SAB and hopefully my family will save up enough money by not going to Disney for about two years to stay at the YC/BC on our next trip at Disney!

Okay, so when I stay at the BWI and have a room overlooking the boardwalk, that's part of my resort. I paid for the view, and it belongs to me. If you're at the BC or YC, you have to look at the lake from your side. If you wany to use my view, you have to stay at the Boardwalk. If you want to watch the game at my ESPN club, you need to stay at the Boardwalk.

Absurd? Absolutely.

I just seems to me is you want to fill your expensive deluxe hotels with happy guests, who will come back time and time again, you need to tell them "yes" as often as possible. You don't need to find excuses to tell then "no."

I thought Disney Magic was due to positive customer relations, making guests feel welcome and important. Wait, the boards are filled with frequent and loyal guests who think Disney has lost this magic touch. Now why do you suppose that happened?
