Ok, I can see my Vans are not going to cut it for training (though I will NOT give 'em up the rest of the time!)

Can anyone suggest a beginners sneaker for me to try?

I tried on some Nike cross trainers, but they didnt feel like my Vans so I passed on 'em, but??? My tootsies need a bit more support...

I'm not sure where you are in NH, but I got fitted for running shoes at Runner's Alley in Manchester. They were great!

In fact, I had to go to a podiatrist yesterday since I am having walking/running related problems with my toes. Long story short (and related to your question), my doctor was very impressed with my shoes & that they were exactly what I needed for my particular feet, correctly sized, etc.

I think Runner's Alley also has a location in Portsmouth, or thereabouts. I highly recommend them!

Wow, that's great, not too far ('bout an hour drive)
Thanks so much!!!

Yes, I would definitely recommend everyone who is walking/running to get fitted at yourlocal running store for shoes that fit. It makes a difference when someone who is trained in how to fit can get what you need.

My store will even order in for me if I want them to. The podiatrists I have seen for various reasons all have agreed this is the better choice.
