If my adult DS is in Khaki shorts, collared polo shirt and (nice) sneakers for the parks can he go that way to Narcossee and Calif Grill or does he have to take dress shoes?

We are hoping if he wears khakis and a collared shirt that he could get away with sneakers. We are just trying to avoid having to put dress shoes in the back pack as we have 5:30 ressies and are going straight from the park.

Thanks

We've always worn sneakers as we head right to the parks as well and it has always been fine.

Absolutely, you will see a lot of folks coming directly from the parks to these locations ... he would be fine, especially if he is wearing a collared shirt.

Sneakers are not against the Disney signature restaurant "dress code," nor are tee shirts.

Thank you all ... I was wondering this as well. We will be heading to several signature restaurants right from the Parks. Plan on bringing a change of clothes but it is good to know we don't have to worry about shoes!

After experiencing the Hawaiian shirt wrapped around the wandering drunk at the Cali Grill, I'm sure you can wear anything. This fine gentlemen kept wandering around the bar area and into the restaurant/table area with both his loud shirt and voice. No one asked him to sit down or stay put in the bar area. I didn't notice if he had on dress shoes, but I'm sure they would have clashed with his Khaki shorts. :sad2:

Lovely! People pay a lot of money for a meal there and get treated to a show like that.

FTR, the only time I saw someone reprimanded for attire was at Beaches & Cream. They made some guy put on a shirt. :sad2:

The only ones I've seen turned away were a lady at Yachtsman that was wearing very nice holey jeans and a lady at Jikos that came directly from the pool with her hair in a wet pony tail, and wearing a bikini that you could easily see through her knee length sheer white coverup and flip flops. Her partner was wearing floral board shorts, a tank top, flip flops, and also had wet hair. They didn't say anything about his tank top, but refused to seat her. She kept arguing that sheer white coverup was a dress.:rolleyes1:rotfl:

Yup -- just agreeing that we often, for signature meals, bring a nice change of clothes (neatly rolled, in a backpack, put in a locker for the day) and wear sneakers without feeling out of place.

Truth to tell, no one will even be looking at your feet. In fact, the greeters at the podiums can't even SEE your feet.
And sneakers are just fine..

we ate there last year and wore what we had one to the parks all day. we had sneakers on and just pants and a shirt. I dont bring clothes to change, I am on vacation and dont create extra work for me, I am there to have fun and relax, well as realaxed as you can get at Disney

DH wore khaki shorts, a polo shirt, and sneakers to Jiko, and khaki pants, a polo shirt, and sneakers to Narcoosee's.

Victoria and Alberts is the only place you would need to do any kind of dressing up for, past that it's pretty normal to see shorts/t-shirts in the 'signature' restaurants. Dress up if you want to, otherwise you may end up being over-dressed (especially in hotter weather).

Speaking as a 20-something guy, there's sneakers and then there's sneakers.

Grubby running shoes that make walking the parks all days wicked comfy? I'd change them before heading to dinner.

Obnoxiously bright shoes that look like the 80s threw up on them? I'd go with something a bit more muted.

Clean/well-maintained fashion-style sneakers? Totally. I'm pretty sure I've gone with clean white skate shoes, khaki cargos, and a polo at CG before and felt completely fine.

I remember last year, there was one family all dressed up, believe it or not they were the ones that stuck out like a sore thumb, everyone else came in to eat right from the park, Grant you it i s a nice hotel and a great restaurant but we are at Disney go enjoy and have a nice dinner :)

I'm sorry but I have to disagree. It's a signature restaurant at a nice hotel. People should shower/change for dinner and not come straight in from 10hrs at MK. I've been in the lift up to CG with some families who smelled of stale sweat. Not what I want when I am just heading for a nice dinner.
