Any ideas from the pros on ideas of good snacks to carry into the parks? We will be staying in a house off site because of our family size. I would like to eat breakfast In the house and pack snacks for mid day then eat one big meal a day at the parks. So some different kinds of snacks would keep everyone happy for a bit.

Jerky, granola bars, trail mix, fruit, nuts. All can be packaged individually.

Nothing that melts, lol. We take chex mix, fiber/protein bars, mixed nuts, apples (& eat them 1st so we get our "good" snacks in early & it helps to lighten the load), sunflower seeds, animal crackers & raisins for little ones.

We find that we ALWAYS want park snacks so we stopped carrying more than 1-2 small items per person each day.... DD always gets a Mickey ice cream, we like Dole Whips, Mickey pretzels, candy from the confectionary store inside the Big Top, etc & combined with big meals we found we were carrying too much. When she was smaller & cared less about that kind of stuff we brought more for her to munch on.

I'm taking a box of protein bars with me and plan on bringing one each day in case I get hungry. We are doing the quick service dining plan and we've never done a plan before so I'm a little worried that it may not be enough food for us, but we'll see. I'm also going to really try and save some of my snack credits so I can bring some goodies home! :woohoo:

I'm hypoglycemic so I always have to bring snacks into the parks with me (like diabetes but I have to increase my sugar not my insulin). I'm bringing ziplock bags full of pretzels (1 for each day) so all I have to do is throw it and some packs of gummies in my backpack. It really helps to keep my blood sugar up.

Im hypoglycemic too! I usually carry around Special K Protein bars w/ me whenever I leave the house! My blood sugar can drop in 2 seconds!! So I will need a whole bunch of those! They work really well. Fresh navel oranges work really well too! Those are really good for when I dont feel my blood sugar dropping. Goes straight to bloodsteam!

DD is insulin resistant, so it's nuts, nuts and more nuts for her. I bring nuts as well. DS1 brings beef jerky and teddy grahams. DS2 brings goldfish & pretzels. DH eats whatever I bring or he'll snag some of DS1 beef jerky.

We like the Nature Valley crunchy granola bars because they won't melt; but they are very "crumby" so we have to be careful where we eat them. Plus, you get two in a pack, so if you have a Ziploc snack bag you can eat one and save the other for later. Jerky is a great low-fat, no mess snack. We also like pretzels and crackers.

We always bring hard pretzels to snack on! We also always make sure to have hard candy of some kind like, jolly ranchers, just to have as a sweet little "pick me up".

We like Rice Krispie treats, gummie fruit snacks, those little packaged cupcakes, pretzels.

We have the same situation. We stay at a condo off property so we have a full kitchen. I will make up snack packs of crackers, digestive cookies, baby carrots, gold fish, grapes etc. I make up some snack wraps (with chicken, lettuce and cheese) that get put into one of the kids lunch bags that goes into one of the back packs. I too like to bring protein bars for myself and granola bars and apples for the kids. Each kid gets a fanny pack to carry their snack packs and their Brita water bottles. Then we will either do an ADR or QS meal for dinner.
Hope this helps.:yay:

I like the little "Jif to Go" peanut butter tubs. I bring some from home, then pair with celery sticks or apple slices purchased at the parks. I even bring raisins so I can make "ants on a log" (my favorite day-camp snack of celery, peanut butter, and raisins!).

I also bring homemade trail mix (peanuts, raisins, M&Ms, and Pepperidge Farm Pretzel Goldfish crackers). I think having protein with your snacks (for me, it's nuts and peanut butter) helps keep you full longer.

I love this idea! I'll be doing this next time we go:hyper:
