When we next stay at Disney we will not have a car but may want to buy some snacks/drinks to keep in the room/Breakfast or take to the parks. Is there anywhere within walking distance where we could do this....I think I might have seen someone suggest Hess near Downtown Disney ?

Rob

yes we went to the hess in downtown disney, it is opposite the entrance to what used to be PI. it is a lot cheaper than the shops onsite. we went twice to stock up, took the disney bus to dd and then got a taxi back.

i think this is why i would not stay on site, the fact that the only option is to shop for groceries at a 24 hour garage.

Every Disney resort has a shop which sells all the staples. The prices aren't extortionate either, although I do recall a recent thread which suggested the beer is expensive.

I agree the prices at Disney are not bad for cookies, crisps, donuts, bread etc. I got a bottle of Jack Daniels for $16 which I didn't think was that bad. We did get a taxi to walmart however it cost $30 so not worth it just for a few snacks. You can book airport - resort transfers which do a grocery shop stop so that may be an idea too.

We found shop at AKL crazy prices compared to publix, like 2L coke $3.50, publix 89 cents.
Back when £ was worth $2 then £1.75 was not much more than home but today it would be £2.50.
I have never bought groceries from Hess but sometimes call for an Icee, inpark they are about $3.50 for a small, Hess are about $1.30 and over double the size. I would guess their groceries are a lot better value than resorts.

Last may we used a company called garden grocer - http://gardengrocer.com/ that we found out about through the dis boards. I hope its ok to post this link!

They were great and delivered everything to my room a few hours after we arrived. It meant that we didn't have to think of anything for the rest of our holiday.

ps - we were in a value which doesn't have a fridge and we ordered a cooler which we left in the room and just filled it up with ice each day and it worked a treat! We gave it away to someone else before we left.

We have been thinking about that as a option as we will proabbly get a cab on departure day rather than DME and that will probably cost about $50-$60

comingtodisney - any idea how much the cab back cost?

thanks for all the other advice

Rob
